Venice (FL) Report- 4/3/06

Bait is showing up here real thick! headed out with my friend Captain Mark Phelps of Shore Thang Charters. Ran about a mile off the beach. Caught some kings and albee’s on fly! My date stamp was a day off Sorry! Olive and white clousers on sink tip and intermediate fly lines. 10lb king smoked about 175 off me!

Hey Kev…thanks for the report and welcome to the site. Good to “see” you again!

WOOHOO … nice fish Kevin!

Very nice Kevin, so maybe I should change my floating line to intermediate and then I might catch fish in Fla.

The Geezer

Salt Water Fly fishing A jerk on one end waitng for a jerk on the other end.

I can’t see the pic, however, Geeze, I can plainly see your signature line at the bottom of your post.
I have a big surprise for you at the next year’s fish-in. I’m personally going to guide you to one of my favorite spots (big evil grin). It’s called the Hotel California Hole, such a lovely place indeed…(another big evil grin). Sharks love to play the “jerk” game. (hysteric laughter)

You got it flats dude!!!
Kevin

Got 'em Kev…thanks! Very nice, and I just bet that king had a pucker factor way over 100 psi!

I can’t wait, each year I learn from my mistakes. How many can I make in a lifetime. forget it you will loose count

I might come down early for a crash course with one of the other veterens. Poor Gil put me in all the honey holes and all I got were dulled hooks, a scratched yak and a gash in the flats boots from the oyster beds.

Eleuther April22cnd and I know I’ll catch me a few bonz, a real carribian pilot

Ya know now that I think about it, maybe its the smell of the kalik when I wet my knots on my fly. MMMMM

I know there are fish in salt water, I just haven’t landed one yet in Fla.

A reward will be posted for any angler willing to assist an old Geezer.

Phil, with all of your trips all over, just give me a buzz when you get near the east central coast of Florida.
Reason? I just gave that little skiff to my son-in-law and Linda and I just ordered a new Carolina Skiff V-series 1765 with a Suzuki 4-stroke 70 hp engine. It’s being built as we speak. We should have it in three weeks. Now of course I have to take Linda quite a few times to break it in…but it looks like I’m getting back into the guide business again.
She’s a great looking boat and we water tested the 19’, but I was a little concerned that poling in heavier wind might be a little difficult.
So, Geeze, if you and Michelle get over this way, we’ll see if we can finally get you and yours on a few redfish. We got three Saturday…well, I got a dink and Linda got two nice 'uns.

Gary, Thank you for the offer. We get back from Eleuthera on the 28th and we will roam around for a few days and might just give you a call. Michele asked me if we should load the yak and canoe and I told her no. Hopefully we can work something out. Sounds like a great outfit and I wish you luck with it.

Appreciate the offer

Geeze, hopefully we will take delivery before then. They said two to three weeks.
