My wife mentioned something about Valentine’s Day little while ago. I guess it is coming up soon. She suggested something but I can’t really remember what she said. Maybe she wanted a new fly rod? Guess that was it.

I’m sure that was it. Just make sure it’s pink.
I learned about Valentine’s Day the same way I learned about most things, the hard way. When we were young and money was tight one year I didn’t get her a Valentine’s gift and quietly learned that was not acceptable and I haven’t forgotten. We have our anniversary, 5 days before our birthday (both of us have the same birthday, I’m a year older), which is two weeks before Valentines. Since my lesson we added a daughter a week after our birthdays. Then she married a guy with a birthday a week after Valentine’s. So February is just one big party around here, except it’s mostly go ing out to eat at your favorite place. Sunday, we are celebrating our daughter’s birthday and she picked my favorite place for lunch, BBQ. Her in-law are taking her to her favorite the day before and she wanted a little variety and appreciates good BBQ.
Larry, I’m sure it was a new fly rod!
You are lucky that you can narrow it down to fly fishing. Mine is much more complicated.
Onceuponatime, my Valentine Day shopping was easy-er. It wasn’t what I bought but from whence I bought it. Back then, ANYTHING ( almost :>)) in a green Marshall Fields bag meant I went the extra mile … I pretended that I didn’t take into account that since she worked there (35yrs Estee Lauder) she could easily return it and I did get an employees 20% discount. Obviously cosmetics/ perfume was OUT and since I once was in the “JULARY” ( as my partner called it) business, that also was out. The options narrowed but the “green bag” tempered the ultimate choice of gift. Now, I just take her out for dinner. THAT always works.
As an aside, I wonder what marketing genius thought that changing the iconic Marshall Fields name to Macys was a good idea ? ( my opinion only, NOT a survey question)

a fly rod and a box of girl scout cookies, you got it made in the shade…
Mine said that she wanted to do someplace warm for a few days, so I bought tickets to Florida. You know what they say…happy wife, happy life!! My Bride’s birthday is the 15th, so I get the double whammy.
I must be off,
Brad
Sounds familiar Brad. Women are always telling me to go someplace warm but they don’t want to go with me!
