UTC copper wire colors permanent?

Can any one tell me is UTC’s copper wires surface colored? Will the colors of the wires fade with time? Is there a copper wire that is permanently colored throughout? Tying Copper Johns for the first time.

Fritz,

Pretty sure the UTC wires are enameled. Durable stuff; I think you’ll lose the fly before the color comes off.
