USD Parallops

Wonder if others tie these paraloops upside down? I used a trailing shuck instead of a tail.

Some say they ride the film better with the hook point up and give a more natural print. How ever they work , those are some nice looking flies. Great job.

Very nice tyes Byron! Thanks for posting.

Best regards, Dave S

Thanks Dave. Are you in Iowa? I used to go to the Ankeny meetings. Lived in Des Moines. Know Keith and used to know Ed Powell…

I’d be interested to see how you tie those. Perhaps a FOTW candidate? Great looking bugs.

Byron,

I curious how they land on a cast. With the weight of most of the hook bend above the line connection centerpoint, does the underside hackle provide enough wind resistance to overcome that weight and make them land on the surface hook point up? With just an ‘eyeball’ evaluation I’d be worried they’d land with the hook point down.

Buddy

They land hook point up and float that way. Just envision a parachute tied upside down. the Paraloop is similar to a parachute.

Hi Byron,

Nope, not in/from Iowa - or Kansas for that matter! LOL!!! Shamokin, Penna - Land of the weather-guessing rodent (Punxsutawney Phil) whose crystal ball is buried under a good 6 inches of snow as I post. Phil apparently would make a better weather observer than a forecaster! I think we should check with NOAA to see if this meadow muncher even has a degree in Meteorology? LOL!!

Best regards, Dave S.

I’m curious Byron, what do you fish for in the sunny climes? Those flies look great, how about an FOTW or a "this is how I did it.
Thanks,
Mike
