I spoke with Jim Hatch tonight & he’s fine. As many knew, Jim had knee & shoulder problems, has had the surgeries & is feeling fine. He also said the water in his home lake, Lake Moultrie (Santee Cooper), is pretty much normal now, but he hasn’t been out yet. He really got into the radio controlled plane thing & can do that right in his ample yard. I told him I was gonna ride him until he got back on the water. Will try to get him back posting too…it’s just a matter of time.
I just thought it was good that Jim CAN fish again…with the drought, it was looking pretty bleak for awhile.
Mike
How long before the fish are back?..soon I hope…
Glad to hear Jim is doing well…seems to me I saw a recent post by Jim…
Mike,
You know they make mini-cameras that mount to r/c planes. Tell Jim to get a few of those and run reconnaissance over his fishing hole to map out a plan of attack. That way he can have his cake and eat it too.
Jim,
I hope your feeling OK and I hope you can fish again someday!
Doug
Jim,
Glad you are on the mend.
Always great to hear, when someone comes through a tough time and is doing better.
Thank you, for the post and info!
Mike,
Thanks for the update on Jim. He’s a terrific guy and a tremendous asset to this site. I’m glad that he’s mending well and that he’s enjoying himself. I suspect that the old English idiom “Absence makes the heart grow fonder.” will work on Jim’s love of fly fishing and when he get’s back into it, it will be even better for him.
Jim if you read this, I hope all is going well for you and yours and that you’re enjoying life whatever you’re doing.
Take care and God Bless.
Jim Smith
Hey Jim,
Glad to hear you’re doing well after the surgery. Missed seeing you here on the boards!!! Get back fishing and posting buddy!!!

It seems as we get older things take longer to heal and we shouldn’t push it. Take the extra weeks to enjoy a hobby that won’t put a strain on the body and enjoy.

Jim
I too hope you are doing well. Looking forward to you posting, but also maybe another shell cracker story.
Dave
Jim is one heck of a nice guy! It’s good to hear that he’s doing well and enjoying his new hobby. I’ll bet he builds an outstanding model plane. 8T
Yes, Jim would build an outstanding flying model but my guess it’s in the shape of a Sus domesticus and probably pink.
Jim, is the light still on on the porch.
Keep on keeping on,
Mark
I’m sure the fish are back…it’s just that Jim replaced one “habit” with another…that’s OK…my bet is he’ll be tossin’ flies again soon…I’ll nag him into it, but I can use some help…do you hear me, Jim Smith & others?
Jim, you oughta tell him you’re stopping by, & it AIN’T to fly planes!!
Mike
Mike,
I’d love to stop by to see him again, but I’m afraid I catch him fly an airplane shaped like a pig. He seems to have started something with his dremel bug “When pigs can Fly” I will drop him an email to check in on him again.
Take care and thanks again for giving us an update.
