Update on Amy's lung lesions

Amy had her biopsy done yesterday. It did not go well. For some reason this doctor is insistent about doing a needle aspiration through the chest wall instead of a bronchoscopy under anesthesia. They only gave her a local, outright lied to her about putting her into twilight sleep. Because it was difficult for her to hold still the radiologist that performed the procedure thinks he did not get “enough” of the lesion for an accurate pathology report.

When I asked him why we did not do a PET scan his reply was that the scan would not tell him what type of cancer she may have, only if she has cancer. I asked him if he was certain that her lesions are cancer. He said no he was not 100% certain. When I asked him why he did not do a PET scan to determine if a biopsy was even necessary he just gave me the “Deer in the headlights” look. He then tried to dodge the rest of our questions and actually just turned and walked out on us! Amy did tell him that he better make due with what he got because she will go to a doctor that will do a bronchoscopy if needed. I find arrogant people to be disgusting. This is especially true for medical personnel. You are there to be compassionate and heal not to boost your ego. We were so nice to these people that butter would not melt in our mouths and they return the kindness with rudeness and arrogance.

All of her labs have come back well within normal range. Of course we are still waiting on the pathology report. It should be here in about 2 to 5 days.

Meanwhile the search goes on for another doctor.

Hi Eric and Amy,

Sorry to hear of all your troubles and difficulties with the exams. However, I was glad to hear that so far the tests are in the normal range, and hopefully that is a promising sign? I realise it is not the same as the pathological report, and that it’s not out of the woods for you yet, but some good news is some good news I hope? Best wishes to you both and I hope that rudeness is the worst you have to go through.

Carl

Eric and Amy,

These days the patient is burden with the job of finding the best medicine out there. I’ll pray that the pathology report comes back with good news.

Keep the faith you two.

Best wishes and God bless.

Marty

Eric,

You sir, Are in possion(sp) of the patience of Jobe…Really do hope you find a doc that will do things in a much better thoughtout manner…These young guns just seem to want to do things as quick as possible and get instant results…with little thought as to what the patient’s thoughts and feelings may be…Type can certianly wait till atleast knowing for certian there is reason to subject a lady to such drastic measures…The wife and I’s thoughts and prayer’s are with the two of you…God Bless.

Bill & Shari

I’m sorry to hear of your difficulties. You and Amy will be in my prayers.

Jeff

Rob

I am very sorry to hear of your difficulties. I’m sure that having the additional burden of dealing with medical staff that is as best not forthcoming with information makes it even more difficult. Both you and Amy will be in my prayers. Please keep us posted on her progress if you are able to.

God Bless.

Jim Smith

All I can say is may God Bless you and her and lead you to a good Doctor that has a good attitude and helpful way about him or her.

Prayers sent!

Eric & Amy,
Of course you remain in our prayers. I know it’s a stressful time for you, & dealing with a doctor who has a poor “bedside manner” doesn’t help.
God Bless,
Mike

Eric,

Thanks for the update. Sorry to hear of the lack of compassion from one who should show more compassion than others. Without taking away from this, I know exactly how you both feel. May you be blessed to find a Dr who suits your needs and hopefully the final outcome is good for you both.

Howdy Nighthawk,

Sorry to hear of such poor bedside mannors, their is no excuse for it. Pehaps what the doc failed to mention was that bronchoscopy is not able to reach the suspicious area, especially if the area is at the chest wall. The scopes can’t go just anywhere in the lungs. I hope for the best.

His answer as to why a bronchoscopy wasn’t done was “It could be possible but that’s not the way we do it here” in a real snotty tone.
