Uni-Thread II

Does anyone use a Uni-Tray II for their thread and do you find it worth the money??

I am looking to store my threads since I purchased the Nor-Vise automatic bobbin and now I can eliminate my thread post I had sitting atop of my tying desk because all my thread will be now spooled on spare bobbin spools. I built a stand for all my Nor-Vise spare bobbin spools and for the common tools used everyday for tying. I thought the concept was pretty neat for storing your thread not in use.

I have one. I keep tinsel and lead in it along with some wire. I don’t put thread in it . . . It’s OK. I think it takes up a lot of room so I only have the one.

I have a couple of wooden cigar boxes, that I have been using for years. They are alot cheaper.

that would drive me nuts, I have to see the color etc to know what I have. I put together some scrap poplar into a three level stair stepped stand, the top level is a 1X4 the bottom two layers have wholes drilled in them to accept tools bobbins etc. the top has dowel sticking up about 5 inches and I store my thread by thread size on them.

It’s a nice box but I actually liked the old version better that fit in a rack.

A long time ago I found some cheapo clear plastic storage boxes with removable dividers at ACE Hardware for $.99 each. I ditched the add-in dividers and use them for bulk thread and other spooled material storage. Each box will hold 30 spools like they were made for them. Unfortunately, I should have figured out that the $.99 price was due to discontinuation from both ACE and the manufacturer. :frowning:

My “working” thread is kept loaded on the two zillion bobbins I have.
