"Unacceptable" fly swap

I really enjoyed grand poobah JC’s recent article on “Unacceptable” fly patterns: http://flyanglersonline.com/cst/cst060908.php
And especially enjoyed the fact that he asked the questions…and left the answers to the reader!

My first choice is always a dry fly, but that doesn’t always excite the fish. Then it’s the nymphs and streamers, but again they don’t always work either. So deep in my bag of tricks, where they are unlikely to be discovered by ‘purists,’ lurk some pretty interesting–and sometimes very effective–flies. (ummm…lures?)

So bring 'em on – your dirty little secrets. Flesh flies, egg patterns, worm patterns, ‘pistol pete’ style flies with propellors, flies that drag tiny spoons, trout pellet patterns, spun deer hair cheetos…you can remain anonymous, remember, by forging your toe tags. I promise I won’t tell.

-10 tiers
-2 flies per tier (total 20 flies)
-Due date August 15
-For any waters, any fish species
-Any plain, untied, weighted treble snagging hooks received will be returned to sender

This sounds right up my alley. Count me in with a trout pellet & cosmic pistol pete.

I’d like in with a Green Weenie and a Buckskin Bugger.

Great! I hope this one fills up. It’ll be a hoot to see what comes in.

May I get in with a Y2K and a Chamois (Shammy) Worm? Sometimes known as “spaghetti and meatballs”.
Chuck

You bet, Chuck!
You’re in.
DANBOB

I would like to get in on this one if I can with My Blue Dragon Fly and a Tan Non Slip Ant, it that is ok. John

You’re in, Bassman.
DANBOB

danbob, my flies will be in the mail tomorrow. I did enclose a couple extra’s of each for the Swap Host. I also included a little bit of extra body material for each swapper. Thanks again for letting me join in on this swap. John

Dan

id like to jump in on this one—with a dirtball and aquarium tubing fly

Hi Guys;
I’m a newbie at fly fishing, but I like tying also. I don’t know how swaps work. I have a real go to fly(when things get slow) BUT only one. Would you kinda give me a how to?

Many of your questions may be answered in this thread:
Fly Swap Questions

You’re in, shorthaul.
DANBOB

MSD53X — for sure read that thread that FishnDave recommended.
Then tie up 10 each of 2 flies (if you REALLY only have one, then tie it in 2 sizes).
Mail the 20 flies to me in a non-crushable box so they get here by August 15, with return postage included (cash is fine).
Then a week later you’ll recieve your box back with 2 flies from everyone in it!
DANBOB

Thanks Dave;
That’s what I needed to know

Are you in? You are welcome to join!
DANBOB

Can I get in? I’ll pick a pattern shortly. I’d like to do a Lee Press-On Fly, but I need to make sure I have enough fingernails of the same size. If not, I have lots of other off-beat patterns, like the Hot-Glue Minnow, etc…

Thanks,

Joel

Thanks for the invite Danbob. But not this swap, I have alot on the plate right now. (hardly been able to fish!)

You bet gigmaster. What 2 flies should I put you down for?
DANBOB

Got mine tied and tagged. Soon as all the yayhoos around here quit drinking white liquor and shooting their guns off their back porches I’ll mail them.
