My “Bobbin Rack”, was someone’s cribbage board. Sorry, I didn’t “make this item”, but for the .50 I paid for it at a garage sale, I thought it might still make a “good hint” for someone!?
THIS, I did make… just a block of sanded, angled and finished wood, a rod handle cork, a few small holes drilled into it and a clip on the front to hold my “Bodkin Cleaner” film can steady.
This thread storage box was a .99 “Michael’s craft store purchase”, as just an unfinished, bare wood box. My bride, did the free hand art work on it for me.
"Gotta know what time it is to leave fishing, right? Pine board, finished off, $2.97 for the clock guts, cork coasters, cut up, for the squares and I tied the flies.
I also built my own “copy” of an Oasis; “Lazy Susan” style, tying station, but haven’t taken any pics of it yet.
Speaking of bobbin holders…I like these…tie holder racks for about a buck at thrift stores…once again placed on the edge of a shelf so no working surface used up…[that give me more room to put my junk  ] easy to see and reach…
Two different angles of the “Oasis” Lazy Susan style tying station I copied, (SHAME on me!),and made of oak.
When I contacted Oasis, to purchase the hook bottles, I didn’t tell them "what I’d done, or why I needed only their bottles?!??!
Ducksterman your tie rack idea may have just given me and idea of a way to hang to hang all the flash material hanks from. I have to see if I can find at the local thrift store one of those tie racks.
Dang stuff takes up to much space on the peg board on the walls.
Consider:…the rack I showed still means that the flash hangs down and will obscure things…so consider these…pull out tie racks mounted from front to back under a shelf…this is from another place I have a tying area
And I may as well show a similar tool storage as at the beginning of this thread…
ducksterman shame on you shame, shame, shame! I can actually see a area of your bench where you would tie. How dare you be so neat
Just kiding I am jelous have not see the top of my bench for over a year.
The tip I have is I took the aligator clamps and mounted them to the edge of a shelf and that is where I put my flies to dry and hang till I have a dozen then they go in a box
I have to say I love your set up ducksterman. I am so jelous. It is a very nice set up. Hopefully this winter I will have time to get things set up simular to yours. The bead chain is nice but I am afraid I would be using it to tie flies with I am the biggest scrounger there is I think. My wife as we are driving down the road says " heck no you are not picking the up and putting it in my car!" My friend is a state traper and I have al kinds of access to hides and I still pickup road kill LOL
