Tying Scissors???

I have about 10 different tying scissors that I have purchased over the years. I really cann’t say I have found a scissors that really is the "one that does the job?

What have you found that that really does the job? Dr. Slick others?

Thanks,

Northwoods

I have a number of them…nothing very sophisticated but of what I have I’d pick my Kershaw… SkeeterII model

While I have several brands, I keep going back to my Anvil Mini Accu-Tip.

I’d been using Dr. Slicks since I started tying, but last spring bought a pair of Anvil Ice #60A Slimline Longreach scissors. They’re all I use now.

Sierra Trading Post has a couple pairs of the Dr. Slick on sale for a great price. At $4.50 I’m willing to take a chance on another pair for the bench. Worth a look at least…

What a bottomless pit this was for me. I bought a cheap pair that I thought would do the job, followed by another cheap pair, followed by, followed by and followed yet again. I wish that I would have just bit the bullet and bought a set of tungsten edged scissors from the get go and never look back. I do like the Anvil Ice scissors and the micro tipped Dr. Slick’s those are both acceptable for me.

These are a good price for tungsten ones: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-THREE-FLY-TYING-SCISSORS-WITH-TUNGSTEN-CARBIDE-TIPS_W0QQitemZ290271898616QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item290271898616&_trkparms=72%3A1421|39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3A12|240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

I got a pair of the older small Thompson scissors that are top-shelf. Wish I could find another pair.

I’ve got four different styles of Dr. Slick scissors and have never found a reason to change to other brands. I do buy cheap scissors for my “dirty” cutting jobs. I am very protective of the Dr. Slick scissors and use them carefully so I expect they will be in use a long time. I’m just not looking for anything better. 8T

I have a pair of Anvil Ice Stainless Steel with the thumb and finger holes are off set which fit in my hand perfect and I never know they are in my hand through the entire tying session. I really like them and they were only $19.95.

I have settles on the Dr Slick Razor scissors as my main pair. I have others, like their hair scissor but the razor pair is the one I use most.

Darn right! Keep it in the family:D What model of Kershaw? Uncle Pete would be proud of you, Duckster!

I get some at my local flea market that cost $2 bucks a pair and they are pretty darn sharp and have very fine tips. Don’t know where he gets them but they work great for me.

While Dr. Slick’s are really nice (the psychodellic ones for all you old Grateful Dead Hippies),
you end up paying for the name. Better to go to a good medical supply and get surgical scissors (even the fine tips).

I use dr slik for everything including wire. doesnt seem to hurt em any!

I went thru a few Dr Slicks and then bought Anvil and Tiemco. Whoa, what a difference. Ya pay for the name with Slick.

Walmart has titanium scissors for about $4. They work fine for me.

Hi,

Gretchen and I have been using the Wiss Clips for the last 15 years and I used them for another 10 years before we got married. They have served us well. Take care & …

I’m wondering how many scissors you’ve been through and what you are cutting with them. It sounds to me like you must be making sheet metal spoons. Have you been stringing barbed wire again? 8T
