I came across them in a newsletter that I subscribe to. They’re not available by me, but I’ve found a few online places in the US that sell them. Since they don’t have pink, I guess I’d use orange or olive. Any ideas for getting pink on the whole body?
i just got some from jan siman in the czech republic and they are not as big as you think and not that heavy either. i just might return them for a refund. :(

Good point, I’d not thought of that. On the other hand, I think when I took the bug class at the local fly shop I remember seeing scuds swimming in all directions in the pan and maybe the fish are used to seeing them tossed around in faster water?
I guess I’m going to try them out just to see, but after hearing the feedback I’m a little less stoked about 'em than I was so I’ll probably just get one package.
I’ve never used these either but i know tungsten can be coloured semi-easily. all you need to do is heat them up in an oven to over 300 degrees and dunk them in powder paint. I learned this on some website and tried it with beads, it works pretty well. so turn em pink!

True True that scuds “flop” all over the place in the water column but mostly they as still water and slow water creatures if I am right, so I think I will stick to traditional methods of weighting my scuds…
I will post again once I see how they work. Also, after a little more digging, I found that Hareline also makes a similar product. My local shops are Hareline dealers, so I’m going to have them order me some to try out.
