I call these guys tube heads because they are made with tubes instead of a hook. Think tube flies and you get it. This allows me to tie on any “tail” depending on the look I’m going for. The grey one and black one are both poppers or sliders depending on which way I put them on my tippet. They fish much like poppers/sliders, but give me lots of options to mix things up a bit. One technique that works well for me is to slide the tube head on the tippet, tie on a streamer, and use a toothpick to peg the tube head about 4-6" above the fly. It’s almost like fishing a dropper, The tube head creats a commotion getting the fish’s attention, and the streamer slowly drifts down like a wounded baitfish. I make them in all sizes which gives me lots of options on the water.

Those give you a great number of combinations.

Beautiful work. My compliments.
The popper/dropper technique works! I have used it for redfish with much success. Ring the dinner bell and they will come!!
Thank you for the kind words. These are fun to make and really expand my options when out on the water.
