Any recommendations for good trout fishing near Valparaiso (NW Indiana)? I’m currently in central Virginia and have been spoiled by the mountain streams of the Blue Ridge, but this summer, I’m moving to Valpo for a couple of years. I know next to nothing about the trout fishing in the area (if there is any) . . . but would really appreciate any advice or recommendations from those who might know better.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Bryan,
Get yourself set up for this site…

Was in Porter about 4 years ago and had a blast
of a time getting some half#ers. Never hooked
up to any big silver bullets but saw a couple locals
show me how it was done, grabbing 2 large ones
in the same run I worked but got nothing out of.
Fished it over the Christmas holiday and man it
was cold!
Hey Bryan,
Be sure to check out your local TU chapter as well - here’s the one for Central Indiana - http://centralindianatu.org/
The Brookville Tailwaters are about 4 hours south of you - http://www.buckeyeflyfishers.com/Brookv … _frame.htm
But up in your neck of the woods there are still plenty of places to toss a line - http://www.midwesttroutfishing.com/indi … estern.asp
HOWEVER - you’re not far from the Michigan border - and there’s some awesome fly fishing up there as well. Here’s a link to explore some local Mchigan waters - http://www.midwesttroutfishing.com/states/michigan.htm
I moved to Cincinnati recently and REALLY miss my home waters out in the Black Hills…but I also know that there are a number of good fly fishing destinations within a couple of hours drive.
Good luck with your search - the season is upon us!
Wednesday Caster and jimmadsen:
Thanks to you both for the links and advice. I look forward to surfing these sights to see what I come up with.
I’ve never done any steelheading, but it looks like now might be my chance!
