Tribute Bamboo to Ed Temme

Sure many of you remember good ol’ Ed Temme whom was one of us here on FAOL. He went by “Smernsky” for a long time and then by “ET Custom Fly Rods” most recently. As you all know Ed suddenly was taken from us by a heart attack just a couple short months ago. Well one thing Ed use to always talk about during our conversations was how much he loved this little 7’ Bamboo rod blank that he had my friend Bob make for him. Ed caught some real dandy trout on that rod on the last few fishing trips he took.

So my friend Bob and I decided to build a bamboo rod in memory of Ed and raffle it off on our rod building website that Ed was a member on and then give 100% of the money to Ed’s wife&family in hopes that it helps to make the holidays just a bit more manageable for them this year.

The blank is a Modified Cattanach taper which was Ed’s favorite cane rod taper, it also has a Lace wood reel seat insert with slide band hardware, cigar shaped grip, agate stripper with Garnet wraps and black trim.

I know Ed liked garnet on his cane rods and loved this taper so I’m sure he’s looking down right now smiling in approval of this little rod:cool:

As usual, it is beautiful.

Alright Steve what site is this being raffled off on I want to buy a ticket if I can afford it.

Once it’s dipped and ready Bob we’ll be doing it over on www.rodbuildingforum.com

I probably should get a hold of LF and see if she would mind us offering tickets here as well to any of his friends that would like to be part of it.

Steve -

If LF approves selling raffle tickets here, I’ll be in for a chance or two via FAOL.

P.S. Check for a PM.

why was my legitimate question removed? and the equally legitimate response to my question?

nonetheless, I wouldn’t feel secure about my wraps holding merely relying on cp to hold them in place. this is information that is valid to anyone who may read this and perhaps shipping a rod.

I don’t know why it was removed mr.blur, I didn’t even notice it was removed till now:confused:

That’s fine if you don’t feel secure with CP holding the wraps during shipping, everyone has their own thoughts on things. But I have shipped cane rods to Bob before to dip many many times over the years with CP holding the wraps and never had one fail during shipping. As long as proper thread tension is used when wrapping CP holds up just fine on the short 60 miles trip in a PVC tube.

Actually I see what happened, you posted that under the other cane rod not this one;)
