As promised, here are the details on this year’s
FAOL Fish-In. This is a group gathering, everyone responsible
for their own expenses - no fees or registration to Fly Anglers
OnLine. Just a chance to meet cyber friends who enjoy fly
fishing, cast a line or two, and play with the fish! There is a
rumor that J Castwell and the LadyFisher will hold a casting
clinic for folks interested in improving their casting. Free of
course!
DATE: Third week in June, June 12 -20th.
WHERE: Crooked Creek Resort, Hill City, South Dakota
RESERVATIONS: 1-800-252-8486 (Make sure you tell the folks
at Crooked Creek you are with the Fly Anglers On Line group -
they have given us a nice discount!)
We chose Crooked Creek for the variety of accomodations
available, and the proximity to great fishing! They have a
campground with 78 RV sites, 75 tenting sites, 19 cabins,
and 14 motel units. Some of the units have kitchenettes,
motel and cabins have heat, air conditioning and TV.
A covered shelter for cook-outs and
an evening campfire is also available.
If you plan on making this a family event, there is an above ground,
solar heated swimming pool, an arcade, basketball and vollyball
courts, tether ball, swing sets, and a creek runs through the campground.
Yes, it has fish in it! There is a hiking and biking trail adjoining the
campground, and bike rentals are available.
Rates are very reasonable. Camp sites are a base rate of $18.00
per nite for up to 2 people. For 20amp W/E the rate is $21.00 per
nite. W/E service is available through 50 amp.
Camping cabins are $44.00 per nite for up to four people. The cabins
are $94.00 for up to 6 people. Motel units range from $59 - $69.
Something, we hope for every budget.
For more information on the area, (including which flys to bring)
visit the Black Hills Fishing
web site.
We are planning some evening events,
including a meal or two, although Al Campbells tells us there
is a super restaurant in Hill City, (The Alpine Inn) two miles
from our digs.
