Trash fish weekend

The goal for this weekend was to catch a catfish, a gar, and a carp, all on the fly.

Check! Check! Check!

Also caught my first crappie on the fly (I have no idea how I’d never caught a crappie on the fly before… I guess I just never fished for them.)

The bubs with his fish:

Nicely done indeed! You da’ man. Those all look like a riot and loads of fun. All I did was catch 7 lousy trout this weekend, would have gladly traded you adventures in a heart beat.

way to go! Looks like you are fishing glass? What a great day you had and put a lot of bend in that rod.

The Trashfish Trifecta! Well done.
(OK, I no longer think of them as trash fish, but it makes for a name.)

And here I am all excited because I caught some tilapias on Sunday…wow, you did great man. Congrats

lol - I was thrilled with my small creak trout… all the fish he has on there looks like a lot of fun.

I stand in awe of you! Gar just spit my fly and the other two just ignore my feeble efforts to catch them.

One man’s trash fish is another man’s, well, I guess they’re still trash fish to a lot of folks, but that don’t keep 'em from being a ton o’fun to catch!
I’m heading out Wed. to attempt the same feat. Wish me luck, eh?

I like to catch any fish that gets on the end of my line & wiggles…

that being said one of my favorite rivers to float is the Green River. most people go from the flaming gorge dam to little hole (averages over 100 boats a day in the summer). I prefer to go from a couple miles below Fontenelle to the next take out. now on this stretch I have ever caught anything except a white fish. however I have never seen more then 1 other boat on the water, and the fishing has been great for me (never caught less then 50 white fish).

Oh, well you probably wouldn’t like carp or gar then. They don’t wiggle very much… they just PULL.

(Actually gar do wiggle sometimes, though that one didn’t)

lol - thats funny… I’m sure I could find a way to accommodate them. weird, but honestly I’ve never caught a carp.
