Thanks Rick. Thanks Norm. This one did not trigger alarms.
We had an outage (partial) for a couple days throwing lots of 429 errors (Too many requests) and not allowing logins. It got bad enough Rick beat me via back channels this morning
Im not sure how since i haven’t changed anything and it’s been working for like forever… but something spiked traffic and all of a sudden the old /bb path for VBulletin (which is dead and gone) caused discourse to go off the rails (ya thats a geek pun)
A reboot didn’t fix it, so I blocked /bb at the top level and now it looks like its behaving.
I’ll check back later today to ensure we are good.
Thanks for your patience, and thanks again Rick!
I never did get around to doing the server swap. Need to get to that but I’m leaving for the east coast for a couple weeks next week. That will have to wait for my return. In my defense I worked with lots of AI stuff and between 4 different AI systems and VERY heavy changes on my part. I have finished a book, and am setting it up on kindle/amazon now. Should be live by the time I return so my focus will be a bit better. I can now cross write a book (albeit kind of cheating) from my bucket list.
ROFL.. not likely. I have a friend from when I was a teenager who became a Romance Novel Writer: Diana Cosby; although it wasn’t Cosby back then. She is very accomplished, but the amount of shit I gave her about writing romance novels… Ya.. No. I’d never hear the end of it if I even hinted that direction.
Aw! c’mon. I can see it. The nerdy, but hunky programmer falls in love with the beautiful image of his corporate tool of a boss’s AI. They plot their escape by building a custom laptop where she can exist while he builds her dream server.
