First trout of 2007
Have ONLY caught three total in my life…
They are very rare here.

Good that you got out and got some fishing in. Looks a wee bit chilly there with the snow on the bank and the snow on your jacket.
almost did a header into the water…
When I saw it was a TIGER…
I wasn’t paying attention to the edge of the water.
The edge disappeared…
the huge snow drift crumbled under my feet.
I am in snow up to my waist.

Not knowing anything about Tiger Trout, are these stocked fish ?
Since you said they are rare, it leads me to believe they are wild.
Never having scored a tiger myself,
I’ve got to say that one is among the prettiest that I’ve seen in photos.

The water quality and temperatures have gotten so much better in the last 5 years…that we have a brook trout RE-BIRTH and the male brookies are wandering into the brown’s spawning areas.
TIGERS are the Mules of the trout wold.
One has 80 chromozones and other has 84…so they are sterile.

Too cool, spinn,the weather and the fish. Maybe that’s an omen that your gonna find a really big tiger this year.

Nice fish, what a great opening day for you. I was lucky enough to catch two rainbows this week to end my cabin fever at last. Its a wonderful feeling to welcome in the new season.
