I am thinking and praying for those families. I wish I hadn’t heard about this until the morning. I may not be able to sleep.
Read it on the net here at work tonite. I have a nephew who is with the Sweetwater County Sheriff Dept. This is also why I have a Concealed Carry Permit, because out here, it may take a while for law enforcement to arrive, and I REFUSE to be a victim!! I will fight for myself and all around me!!
Thank you for the message, Steve.
My heart and prayers go out to the families and the department of my brothers and sister in uniform who lost their lives in WA.
It is a sad day in the law enforcement community for sure.
I also appreciate the willingness of citizens to help whenever possible.
Long story very short, but I once had a citizen help me effect an arrest on a guy who was hopped-up to the gills on dope. He was a much bigger guy than me and I was fighting with all I had without using lethal force trying to subdue him…a fella that felt zero pain. A citizen passing by on a country road at 3am saw what was going on and stopped and helped me subdue the guy. He jumped right in and fought right beside me. I could not thank him enough.
Again, thanks for your post, Steve. And again, my prayers go out to those families and the department in WA.
This was just up the road from me. And people wonder why I prefer to stay at home or on a trout stream.
From what is being said on the news, the “person of interest” in this mass killing is a guy whose sentence was commuted by Huckabee when Huckabee was Arkansas Governor. He was out on bail here on assaulting a plice officer and child rape charges.
Our thoughts are with the families of those officers, and all who serve the public at grave risk to themselves.
If this turns out to be a gang-related MURDER I think we should have a war on gangs.
THIS CRAP HAS TO STOP!!!
P.S.: I have relatives that were friends with the murdered officers. But that has nothing to do with my thoughts on this. Locally a guy was killed by some of these thugs. Time to put an end to this stuff.
BBW, this was not gang related and the police have stated that numerous times.
Truly sad. We have lost 5 police officers in the past month here in Washington.
My heart and deepest sympathy goes out to the family, friends, and colleagues of the slain officers.
Thanks for the clarification.
As a retired Law Enforcement Officer I too will weep for families of those fallen officers. I truly feel blessed that I reached retirement age but certainly not without aches and pains contributed to the job. I hurt when I hear many speak of and read the many negative words that are said at times but I will ask all who read this to consider the job that our state wide Law Enforcement Officers are doing. Like all of our soldiers these men and women are a target in uniform and I do believe they are engaged in a domestic war and it is senseless shootings and killings like these that bring it to a reality. I do not usually become serious on this site and another I participate in but “I am mad as hell”.
GATOR:
Thank you for your time of service to us. I for one appreciate what you do, uh did.
Honestly enough is enough already. It’s time we get the thugs under control and make it safer for all. I was so upset to learn that four police officers were killed. My heart goes out to them and their families.

We will never forget you!
Justice was served, the suspect is dead.

Not yet, but with his death (of which he committed himself to) this will bring some closure. I only hope that those that aided him in any way with intent will be prosecuted to the fullest extent and then some.
you know whats a shame here. Four great men died by this thug. I am glad he is gone but this still does not replace the father and husbands that loved ones lost. My hearts go out to the families this time of year. The others that need to be captured and prosecuted should be tried fairly and if found guilty should be sentenced to a very severe punishment. I believe in the death sentence but I am not the person to enforce this. I know if it were my loved one, I would not think twice about it.
Fontinalis,
It was three men and a woman who were killed by this thug. Not only were husbands and fathers lost, but also a wife and mother. Any way you look at it, a tragedy for the community and society as a whole.
We lost another LEO in the Pittsburgh area today…![]()
A terribly bad year for our people in uniform…
Never forget!
They arrested the 7th person involved with hiding, helping this thug. All will serve substantial time. The legislature in WA state is also addressing the problem of letting twice convicted felons out on ANY bail. Maybe some of the legal problems will be fixed because of these deaths.
One hell of a price to pay isn’t it.
Hard to type through the tears. Thank you Steve.
