TicR or VT2

I’m looking at purchasing a 6 weight for lakes and light steelies and have narrowed it down to the Sage VT2 and the TFO TicR (unless I see an XP on closeout lol) . Was wondering which you’d recc taking into account the difference in price ???
ps I own a couple of sages but have not cast a VT2 or ever a TFO
Thanks and cheers

BUY AMERICAN!
I have the VT-2 in a 9’ 4wt. and I love it. It’s very similar to the old RPL, with a bit quicker recovery. I can’t say about the TFO’s.

Darrin,
I have a 9’, 4pc, 6wt Sage VT2 & LOVE it! First fish was a 7lb steelie, followed by some decent 2 & 3 lb bass caught on 4 to 5" rabbit strips & Dahlberg Divers. Highly recommended!

Thanks alot guys .

If you want a Sage XP, you can find them for a little more than the VT2 right now on clearance sale.

I have the TFO TiCR 6wt (it was a gift) and have cast some VT2 models, as well as the 6wt XP, but not the 6wt VT2. I prefer the VT2 series. Fit and finish are much better than the TiCR also.

My TiCR stays in the rod rack when fishing and my old Sage RPL+ sees most of my 6wt duty in freshwater. The TiCr is an exceptional performer, and a powerful rod with a fast action, but in the lighter weights - less than 8 - I much prefer all of the Sage models (XP, TCR, Xi2, Fli, to the TiCr).

My TiCr does come out of the rack when I am providing casting instruction - it is a Yellow “Instructor Rod” model - because the color makes it easier to see what is going on with the rod.

Yea, I own the TICR and it does have a little more weight to it. It’s a great rod for the money but the Sage is hard to beat…

I’ve got a 6 weight TiCr and a 6 weight TFO Teeny that I recently bought. Both are great rods but the Teeny is fast becoming my favorite of the two, just a bit slower than the TiCr but plenty fast for me.

Yea, I prefer the action of the Pro series to the TICR series. I recently purchased a Redington RS3 that I’m in love with. Actually, It’s now my favorite rod… I highly recommend one and even though it’s not an Orvis or Sage “owned by Sage”, Winston or other expensive manufacturers rod I put it right up there with any of em. I like it that much. It’s also stunning looking and the action is awesome. Best bang for the money I’ve seen.

Cant speak for the TFO but my youngest son has the V2 in 7-10 3 weight and it is a real sweet rod.Its a little faster than my TXL but he loves it.We are partial to Sage rods partly because the are made here.We buy blanks to be built at home so we can have more choice in thread colors and reel seats.

I agree that Sage makes Awesome rods… In my opinion probably some of the best rods. I think they have done a wonderful job with the RS3 once they took over Redington. The rod is beautiful and very responsive. I have cast many Sage rods including the VPS, VPS light, Launch, FLI and then the more expensive rods of the Sage line and the Redington RS3 is Awesome. Only complaint is that the Cork is not of the highest qality but hey, find me a sub $200 rod that doesn’t have filler in the cork! I’ve owned many sub $200 rods and this one is by far the best I’ve had. I highly recommend it for anybody looking for beauty, response, feel, and a good fair price.
