I didn’t know how to pose this subject question without it sounding corny.
I’m wrapping a 2-piece graphite rod. The female end of the upper half of the rod overlaps the male end by at least an inch and one-half. My problem is I’m not sure how wide I should make the wrap on the female end of the rod?I hope that is clear!

Here’s his instruction;
Once you have the guides wrapped, wrap over the female end of the ferrule for at least three fourths of an inch to prevent the ferrule from splitting.

Be sure to check with the blank manufacturer to find out their requirements. Many have minimums set in order to keep your warranty. I know of one that requires only 2X the ferrule diameter, and another that requires none at all. I try to keep mine as small as the blank producer requires for the warranty.
I’ve always done 2x the ferrule diameter unless the manufacturer states otherwise. Remember not to apply too much tension as you could compress the ferrule and it won’t seat right.
The general consensus is 1.5X the diameter. Even though manufacturers such as Batson (Rainshadow/Forecast) say that no ferrule wrap is required, they do agree that it doesn’t hurt for added strength. I always join the sections prior to wrapping, that allows me to get the tension just right. The most important thing is to get the wrap as close to the edge as possible, preferably within 1/16".
