For those battling the bulge as am I, congrats on the weight loss. One thing I have noted now that I’m in my mid 60’s. It’s a lot easier to put it on that take it off.

Oh ron I am right there with you bud. Since they destroyed my thyroid I have had to declare full scale warfare!
I was diagnosed as a Type II diabetic about 10 years ago. While never overweight, I was probably too sedentary, ate a very carb-rich diet, and had a long family history of the disease. My control really improved upon reading The Diabetes Solution by Dr Richard Bernstein, a diabetic himself since the age of 12. Here is a link about him and his approach to treatment which I urge you to read, if for no other reason than that his life story is so compelling.

Good luck! The toughest thing for me is staring down a huge bowl of spaghetti and meatballs. Ah!

Bob,Thanks for that link. Dr. Bernstein apparently HAS dedicated his life’s work to the diabetic problem and by/through his own experience adds MUCH credibility to his comclusions. Although not a diabetic myself, blood sugar usually under 100 mg/dl., I am aware of and count carb intake. Right now, on my current self directed diet, I try to maintain an intake of less than 60 grams per day. That and moderate exercise has helped me lose 17 lbs ( 233 to 216) in about 45 days.
If doctor Bernstein became a physician at 45, perhaps I can become a violist at 68? ( I have a coupon)

PS: I’m right there with ya on the “bowl of spaghetti and meatballs”.
You all are much to be admired for your convictions and hutzpah! I’m proud of you!
When blood sugars are near normal, many good things with blood chemistry seem to follow, at least in my case they did.

A good one? No. Can you own an instrument? Sure!
Redeem the coupon. When house guests have stayed too long you can always treat them to some hot fiddle music.
