While we’re thinking of others recently disabled, some thought may go to Ron Eagle Elk, Kerry Stratton, Tim Nelson, and Zac Church, all members here who are undergoing horrific treatments for various cancers. I realize they are not the only ones, but some who have come here and made a difference.
My prayers go out to them and all in those very serious situations. I’ve been a member here a long time and those names are quite familiar. I wish I could do more for them.
Betty,Thanks for sending out your message. As we all advance in age, more and more little problems fall upon us and some turn into big problems.May we all deal with our problems in a positive manner, and hope for some good recoveries.Larry —sagefisher—
I meet a lot of people who are undergoing them at a center where I go regularly for blood tests. The physical and mental toll can be devastating. For the most part, the ones who seem to be coping best are the ones with a visible support network. If you’re communicating with any of these folks take time to send them a joke or a picture of a new fly. Anything that distracts for a bit from their health without drawing too much energy is good.
Your kind thoughts are appreciated , a phone call to those that are going through any of these terrible sicknessesdose make a huge difference. It is the best medicine. Thanks for bringing this up Betty- your timing is spot on -as I had a conversation over the weekend with a friend going through a rough time with his illness.-His expression of thanks was heartfelt and meaningful -I do wish the best comfort to others in this regard as well.–Be safe
Today was the birthday of the late great Jack Hise. I had the privilege of meeting and fishing with Jack and Warren Patterson before Jack moved and Warren passed away. A couple of great guys who are missed.
There are a lot of folks in west Florida, south Georgia and western North Carolina who need your prayer. Hurricane Helene was rapid moving but hit hard when it came ashore in Florida and up through Georgia. I was fortunate that it did not maintain the projected course which would have put it in my part of the state, but went further east hitting Augusta and the into the mountains of western North Carolina where extensive flooding has taken place including a could of bridges on major roads being washed away.

I raised one up to my friend Jack, he will always be remembered.
