They're Here! They're Here!

I got a nice little surprise this morning when I got to work. My share of the “bulk rods” purchased by a number of us finally arrived today. Let me tell you, I can hardly contain my excitement. Here is a picture of the scene lurking behind my desk at work.

So yeah, between peaking behind me to see if they are still there, and looking at each one over and over again; I’m not going to get any work done today! Some of you can look forward to a bunch of questions over on the rod building forum. I can’t wait to try my hand at refurbishing, and learn a bunch of new stuff!

I also wanted to take a second and thank Joe Martin for all the time and hard work he put in to get this together. Joe has managed this rollercoaster ride beautifully - He really stuck with it to make this happen. Honestly Joe, I can’t thank you enough. I hope that someday we can reunite some of these beauties on the water.

On another note. I know that some had been interested in possibly trading some rods. I would be willing to trade pretty much anything I received for a smaller rod (less than 8ft). I fish mostly small streams so something shorter would be nice. If you interested, check the list that Joe sent out and feel free to shoot me an email or PM. If not, no big deal because I certainly love what I have already! I can?t wait to hear how everyone else?s share turns out.

Andrew

Where is the list Joe sent out?

Aww, shucks  You can thank me by catching a fish on one (or 5 or 10) of those rods  I’m at work right now, but when I get home tonight, I’ll post the list of all the rods on here. Then if there’s one in particular you’re interested in, you can post a response and the person that ended up with that rod can respond.

Hey Andrew,

I’m loving the Granger banty I recently acquired.
At 6 foot, it’s perfect for my swamp fishery. Both
beautiful and a joy to cast.G Might be an option
for you. Or perhaps as was suggested to me, you
might consider making up a spare handle with grip,
seat and female ferrule to accept a mid and tip of
another rod. Might be fun to play with. Nice
picture! You’ve got a busy/productive winter season
ahead of you.G Enjoy! Warm regards, Jim

Still at work, but managed to find the list I posted in my original “Holy Cow” post:

You know I’m glad I wasn’t able to do that buy with you all. If a package came to my with that many bamboo rods, I’d pop a vessel and blood would be all over this screen! Graphic but true.

 Andrew, figgerd youd be happy. I helped Joe ship them out, enjoy

I kinda wish I woulda gotten into that action…oh well…

Do any of the rods have socks and tubes? Email me please, I would like to discuss a possible trade long rod for shor tod. Thank you, Jonezee

I believe one of the South Bend’s had its sock, but that was it.

Joe - I will certainly be catching some fish with these, and will be sure to post some pictures when I do!!

Jonezee - I sent you a PM, feel free to contact me if your still interested.

Jim - You already managed to answer one of my first questions! I really had no idea of what, exactly, a banty rod was. I mean I knew that it was a short bamboo rod, but that was about it. I have some further questions but will direct them to the rod-building forum.

I can’t wait to hear how everyone else turned out with their share. Keep us updated! I finally will have some time this evening to take a good look at mine. It just figures that I would get them on one of the weekdays where I am at work until 11, but then again its not like they are going anywhere!

Returned tonight from a business trip to find 2 large tubes filled with bamboo - enough to start my own bamboo grove  Just like Christmas only in August 8)

Thanks again, Joe, for all your efforts to make this happen.
