They got him!

Great news from the USA today, Finally after all this time they have killed Bin Laden!
Well done all the forces involved!
All the best.
Mike

Just heard. The media talked a lot longer than the president, but the message is the same. Bin Laden is dead and they have the body to prove it. By no means however, should we relax. Bin Landen’s lieutenants will be looking for a way to glorify themselves and their ill-fated cause. The vigil must continue. A great big Atta-Boy to the troops that completed this successful mission.

Yes!!!job well done troops!!!

God Bless Everyone who has given even a minute of their lives to get him. Well done to those who finally did, and God Bless the USA!!! Let Freedom ring!

TT

Atta Boys!! US troops killed the rat! Job Well Done!!

Now I can’t wait for the YouTube…

Semper Fi Seals !!!

Great job Navy Seal Team…

U.S. citizens and organization aboard and at home should tweak their radars. My brother’s twin daughters are deployed as missionaries in Spain and southern Asia. Please remember them in your prayers.

I stole this from Westfly:

Now I lay me down to sleep, one less terrorist this world does keep. With all my heart I give my thanks, to those in uniform regardless of ranks. You serve our country and serve it well, with humble hearts your stories tell. So as I rest my weary eyes, while freedom rings our flag still flies. You… give your all, do what you must…with God we live and God we trust.

As always thank you to the troops for doing their duty. Congrats to the C.I.A. for outstanding intelligence work too.

This is not a reason to celebrate. Before he was a powerful man, now he is a martyr with a large violent following. He was taken in a country that is supposedly an ally. A country friendly to him. A country that has nuclear weapons. A country where he had been living very comfortably for some time.

Taking him out was one of those things that needed to be done. Now we will see if the citizens have the fortitude to endure a war on terror that will most likely not be shortened but grow bloodier. Al-Qaeda’s Number 2 man is still on the loose. As others have mentioned here be ready for it. There will be retaliation somewhere so go ahead and celebrate for the moment.

I might suggest that the department of Defense clamp a lid on interviews with our service members that state that the war on terror is over or will soon be ended.

I applaud our US Troops & all who support them. That being said, I totally agree with Eric’s post. We can ill afford complacency.
Mike

GOD BLESS AMERICA AND THOSE WHO SUPPORT AND DEFEND HER! CIA Operatives…Navy Seals…Special Forces…incredibly brave people and all other Military branches.

Saddam Hussein - CHECK  Osama Bin Laden - CHECK

Who’s next to mess with the WORLDS GREATEST MILITARY???

Army Blackhawk helicopters and crews flew them in. They made a mistake coming out of ground effect on take off (most likely an overloaded aircraft and or wrong power setting, density altitude, etc…) and it nearly cost them dearly.

I also understand he was offered the chance to surrender.

Of course he was…that is what separates us from them. We give them the choice: come quietly, or come silently. THEN WE SUPPORT THEIR CHOICE!!

I was under the impression the order was to eliminate him. Period. I hope I am correct. This individual did not deserve an option of surrender.

If the report is true, too bad they buried him at sea. They should have buried him in the middle of a pig farm !!!

Couldn’t do that. It would have ruined some poor farmer’s farm!

I’m not sure I agree with the decision to handle the body according to Muslim belief completely. This will lead to folks saying he isn’t dead. I also do not believe he deserved that courtesy. If a Muslim or Jew (both believe in burial before sundown.) dies violently here the body is held for autopsy and proof of identity. I think this was rushed a bit. Of course, the whole burial thing may be a ruse for relations in the Middle East and to keep others from stealing it for whatever reason. My bet would be that he was not buried at sea but is on ice for the time being.

Doesn’t really matter if there is video that we killed him on the helmet cams, and we took DNA, then no real need to desecrate his body, and further anger the Islamowhackos, and possibly convert more to their cause. If USN Seal says “I shot him”, DNA proves it, USN medical examiner posts the body, and they slide him over to feed the fishies, that is good enough for me…at least then there is no grave to wail over…

Hell, I would be fine if we used the same tactics on murderers, pedophiles, rapists, etc, here in the states. Try 'em and ice 'em. Works for me.

I don’t know about the current Commander In Chief but that was the case with the C’n’C before him.

This is not directed at you Kerry but just a general statement. To me this was a dirty task that was necessary. Not something to celebrate or get all gung-ho over. We need to maintain our focus and move on because he has already been replaced. Folks please do remember that this year will be 09-11-11 the ten year anniversary of the 09-11-01 attacks so chances are Al-Qaeda already has something in the works. I hope I am wrong but fear that I am not.

nighthawk,

I have to agree, nothing about him was positive, It is good that justice has finally been granted, but everything about him and his existence has been negative, I only hope and pray that someday our boys will not have to risk their lives for our freedom. That they can enjoy the freedom that so many have died for.
