The Youngest Tyer

Here are a few pictures of my son playing with my tieing stuff. He just climbed up there and started playin all on his own. I walked into another room for a few minutes and came back to see this. I was just too darn proud to not share these! The other pics in the album aren’t related, but you’re welcome to look. BTW, he is 1.5 years old!

Beautiful!! I especially like the one with the big grin! What a cutie!

I thinks it’s time he has his own setup!

Wild One,
That is a very good sign!! Your going to make so many wonderful memories together!
I’m happy for you!
Doug

Fantastic! When the kids aren’t pushed toward something, but want to explore on their own, their interest & dedication are just that much greater. I’d say he’s hooked! He’ll be tying before you know it.
Mike

They’re all grown up, house broken and out on their own now. But, when raising my 3 sons “at the bench” and later “on the water”, are memories I, or they, will never forget! My oldest tied his first wollybugger at age 3, caught his first bass on it, at 3.5 years old and has been flyfishing/tying, ever since.
One, son, just “didn’t take” to either endeavor, but he’s one hell of a golfer now. The youngest boy, fly fishes like mad, but due to health issues, he can’t tie flies.
But, regardless, you’ve started your young one on a great path of memories for the both of you, congrats!
And, “NO”!! Two years old, IS NOT to young to own your own split cane rod, Daddy!??!

Thanks for the kind comments guys.

Flybinder,
He actually does already have his own rod. Its sweet! It is the tip section from a South Bend boo (not sure what model) with a grip and reel seat attached. Its about 3 ft long and casts surprising well. It’ll cast just far enough to really nail the BG near the bank. The real key with this one is getting him to hold still long enough to tie or fish or do anything but run!
