The Tomah-Jo and the New Lake, a couple of bass lake flies

I have been playing around with tying bass lake flies, these are from the book Forgotten Flies.

The New Lake
Tag: flat silver tinsel
Tail: mallard and scarlet (I substituted with red goose shoulder)
Body: flat silver tinsel
Rib: silver wire and palmered red hackle
Wing: golden pheasant tail
Shoulder: red feather
Hackle: scarlet (I substituted with red schlappen)
Head: red wool

The Tomah-Jo
Tag: fine oval silver tinsel
Tail: yellow goose
Butt: peacock herl
Body: large oval silver tinsel
Wing: barred woodduck, matched pair
Hackle: red and yellow schlappen

These were fun to tie, I hope to post more patterns every week

Alberto

Alberto,

Beautiful flies; please keep them coming.

Regards,
Scott

Those are great. I’ve always liked the Tomah Jo.

I tied up some Tomah Joes trying to find patterns that I could use barred Wood duck with. They 're a pretty fly and they do catch fish !

Very nice renditions Alberto. Terrific!

Nicely tied
