THE SIPPING RISE

Neil talks about the detection, science, and catching of fish that barely break the surface of the water

Just plain great discussion of a sipping riseform, Trav. I had the privelage of watching a 24 inch rainbow sip tiny BWO’s not more than a foot from the river bank where I was sitting. Seems like he just lifted his head a bit, opened his mouth and a bit of water and the BWO just disappeared. There may have been a kissing sound, but with my bad hearing, I didn’t hear it. There was hardly a disturbance in the waters surface.

This was at Rocky Ford Creek in Central Washington State. That’s why we have a Fish-In there.

We’ll get Trav over to Rocky in the Spring. Another challenge S Thanks REE.

Loved your article. The same thing happens on warmwater ponds with the fish.
