South Dakota!!!

That kind of weather can be some of the best fishing!
Betty,
I got snowed on Friday, the 27th near Mallo Camp. Spearfish Creek continues to be blown out. Was up to 800 CFS but is falling. Went to Pierre last weekend, had a lot of love with the white bass, but it is now is experiencing flooding. Between rain , snow, cold , has been a crappy spring, but will get better !!
Betty,
Standing on thin ice , exposing your " no trouts in SD" position, AND, fearing waking as a TOAD , I state: the pic ONLY illustrates that there may be NO TROUT(S") FISHERMEN, W(H)IMPS in S. Dakota. I would not , and have not let that pictured “dusting” deter me from injuring a few trout lips while on my way to Wyoming ( where., THAT being …, never mind) . JUst outside Deadwood, there are a few “trouts” that FEAR my late Sept early Oct pass-thru for fear or RE-injury.
Mark
Marco,
The place photographed is “just” outside Deadwood! Watched about 5-6 inches pile up in a little under a half hour! Pretty remote area, pretty area! Followed the snow plow back down the mountain to Deadwood! Just between you and me … we’d whacked the fish just before the storm! And again after! But, September is the best time to fish the Hills!
Bill,
Spearfish was a mess! High, fast, chocolate!
Looks like winter steelheading on the Sauk River, WA
So Betty,
Can I stop practicing " ribbitt, ribbitt, ribbitt", at least until further notice?
Mark
PS: Come to think of it, is “ribbitt etc.” the correct Toad language ?
Here you go Mark, pick out a song you like http://allaboutfrogs.org/weird/general/songs.html
That kind of weather is why I make a concerted effort to never fuss about hot weather. I saw it snow once, I do not need to see it again.
While I’m waitin for the steaks and HOT Italian sausage to say “uncle”, I did open that link and NONE sounded like “ribbitt”. But, what do they know?
Mark
Dearest Betty, you need to clean the dust off your lens.
Ed
Let me see if I got this right , there are no trouts in South Dakota… Trouts don’t live in Ugly places… Ergo if there are no trouts there, that would make South Dakota an Ugly place…
Which I know is wrong because I’ve been there and it is definately not an ugly place. Yet a certain person whom I will not name at this time, would have us believe that there are no trouts there.
Betty how sayeth thou on this??? Are there trouts there or not???
MY hope is that by the time you straighten this conumdrum out the snow will have turned to rain which you can use to float the fish with.
Luv Roger
Betty
You want some of our weather, it’s only 95 degrees here today and for the next 7 days
Darm, Roger! If you don’t let it go ANY further than between you and me … I lied.
I just don’t know where they are. Don’t tell anyone else, OK??
If I gave you a box of Cheez-Its would you know where the trout(s) are? Two boxes?
(Memo to self: When giving treats to The Girls at MIFI, do NOT confuse box of Cheez-Its with box of Milk Bones !)
Ed
at least the weather is getting better here. maybe we can quit dealing with flooded basements and get back to fishing here in the black hills!
I went out to mow the lawn this morning, and had to return for a jacket. Brisk breeze didn’t help any. There were freeze warnings last night for some areas of our valley. I think spring occured on May 9th and 10th. We’re now back to September weather. I have it on good authority that all the trouts in the Idaho streams have been washed downstream to the Pacific.
Kerry
Now you’r talking home waters. Been there, Done that !
