The Pressure Is On!

Ok Chris! thanks for the show, read like I was there watching, and I got an education to boot!

Tim…

Thanks Tim …

I always CRINGE when I see anglers trying to scoop up a trophy fish.

Also, … 'ya have to grab the rim of the net … instead of lifting by the handle! Usually, you can net a fish that is as long as the net is deep! (ever wonder why the older “non-C&R” nets were so deep).

Winter has arrived here !!! The 2009 season is “only” 7 months away :frowning:

Chris -

You have my condolences.

John

P.S. Any tips for us guys that don’t use nets ??

Thanks for your sympathies John ;), … I just got off the phone with another forester and he said that it’ll be cold and damp tomorrow … 50 degrees!! (but 3 inches of rain in the forecast !!!)

For no net, … which I do 90% of the time here, … let the fish (trout 'n salmon) slide up to you, it’ll often want to hide in the back eddy of your legs! … I like to hold the rod in my mouth, slide one hand under the belly and tail it with the other.

April V has a neat trick of balancing her rod across her shoulders, but then again, … I don’t take care of my teeth as well as she does!!!

For a salmon, … once you tail one NEVER lift it up vertically out of the water. If you ever do, … you’ll hear the vertabrae crackin’ and popping. I’ve never asked the biologist here, … but I’m sure that it can’t be good!

If youplan on keepin’ a fish, … best bet to not lose it and not use a net, … Beach it!

My 0.02 cents anyway !!!
