THE POACHER - Dave Micus - September 14, 2009

THE POACHER

I’d say Dave is a good writer, but my first reactions for this piece was, O.M.G.!!! Dave you are out of your friggin mind?

That knock on your door tonight… Can you say “Mr Micus, we are with the secret service and we have a few questions for you. You will kindly accompany us, NOW, thankyou.” Send us a fishing report from Gitmo will ya? I’m looking forward to any future articles.

I can’t wait for the next installment of this dramatic tale! What fate awaits Thompson and his fearless sidekick, Ben!

Keep 'em coming, Dave!

Jeff

Dave,

I must admit that you had me going for a bit.

You should write a novel.

Buddy

Good to have you back, Dave

Hey Dave,

Great to see you doing some writing again for FAOL. I don’t believe that I’ve ever read a feature that had me hanging on the edge of my seat before. That certainly went well beyond the “screeming reel” or the “last remaining ten feet of backing.” I haven’t experienced that kind of tingle since I had an armed security guard walk within 10 feet of the thicket in which I was hiding as he yelled he knew where I was and was going to shoot me if I didn’t surrender and stand up. In case you’re interested, I didn’t move and he disappeared after poking around for another 10-12 minutes. Take care and if you get a chance, tell us a little about fishing in Saudi Arabia. 8T

Dave, I enjoyed your story. Keep’em coming.

I worked 28 years as a Ky Game Warden and the story was so good that it made me want to start poaching!

You can hang this 200 lbs+ bigmouth *ss on your wall. You caught me fair and square. I had a college room mate who was all way up to something we were not supposed to be doing, I was the guy most likely to get caught.

Good story, that would make a great little TV show (Jeff Foxworth as Dave Micus?).

That’d be me…

Swallowed this one hook line and ahem sinker.
I actually called Dee and Trav, and asked them ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO RUN THIS?? After all it MIGHT be true, and in todays environment and government monitoring, I saw this as opening a big can of worms. (no pun intended  )

If it weren’t for the Castro about to die at the end I would probably have bought it all the way.

So, what book deals are in the works Mr. Micus, cause I’m looking for a signed edition of whatever is coming out.

GREAT job.

–Ron–

Dave, that was awesome. Feel free to continue the series. Hemingway meets Ted Trueblood meets Raymond Chandler is a recipe for great literature. I didn’t even know that this laptop had a “view pulp” mode for the screen.

Ed, a satisfied customer

I know you must be enjoying yourself with the many new adventures in a pristine area. Thanks for the read and yes it had me sitting on the edge of my chair.

Thanks Dave

Dave

Excellent!!! Can’t wait for the next part!!!

BTW, don’t worry about beheading. I hear it doesn’t hurt. You got the B’s?

P.S. What’s up with Saudi Arabia? Why not come clean and let everybody know it,s Hoboken, NJ.

@hairwing: Nice. I was waiting for an obligatory “Forbidden City” line the whole time. :stuck_out_tongue:

Dave: I had 27 years in the military, and I was a Platoon Sergeant of a Reconnaissance Platoon. We were good, but there where units on the base that made us seem like rank armatures. We called them “Spooks”, not to be be confused with the “Ghosts”!

I hope your story was a "Tall Tale, but your article caused me a lot of apprehension! No fish is worth, all what you stated in your article.

No matter how sneaky you think you are, there are others who are invisible, with the new “Stealth” technology being applied to the ground troops! ~Parnelli

Nice story Dave and pretty well written. You’ve hooked the readers at FAOL, myself included. If I were you and intended on continuing the tale I would use what was submitted here as chapter one, write the rest of the story and then start shopping for an agent or publisher. The main character Ben is quite conflicted, which always makes for a tense read. Just my thoughts. Good job.

Good. Very Good. Most Excellent…! The best short story I have read in a long time.

Reminds me of Connell’s “Most Dangerous Game”. Well writ Dave.

Mark

Got a real kick out of this article. Thompson brings to mind Hunter S.
Eric

That was just the kind of article I needed. What a hoot. Keep em’ coming Dave.
