Ok guys and gals…
I know it a funny name for a fly but what is your opinion?
Beleive it or not… this fly was one of my top producers of 20in browns at night…
I would post a few pictures of them (fish)… But DG has already seen them more then once. (LOL)…
I tie a similar streamer with a pine squirrel zonker only. Yes, indeed, it is a very effective pattern. I’ve taken browns, bows, cutts, brookies and cuttbows on the pine squirrel only version, on quite a variety of water, including the biggest fish I’ve had on, which I lost when it broke off a 2x 10# tippet, on the Henry’s Fork of the Snake last fall. From what I saw when that fish rolled just after hitting the fly, and the way he felt when he took me to the backing in two quick runs, I figured he was 26-28". Would like to have seen that one close up, but I still have one great memory from those ten seconds or so that we were acquainted.
I fish my version as a bait fish / sculpin on a class II full sinking line, down and across with a short steady strip.
Wondering how you fish yours - in what kind of water and with what kind of presentation ??
It almost looks like a sparrow which I took several 17 + fish and a 25 + rainbow on in the same day. I know it sounds like bull!@#* but its not, nice pattern.
