The Penultimate Largemouth Bass?

A series of much needed heavy rains as well as some cold snaps have spelled “C-u-r-t-a-i-n-s” for the pond fishing around my area. Over the last months of October and November, I hit it hard and heavy nearly everyday after work and on weekends. I built myfirst rod and went right back at it with the 4 wt. In the last two forays the water temps have dropped and the bite has finally cooled off, too. SIGH!.. Anyway here’s the 'next to the last Bass, why the penultimate? because ya never know when a warm spell, or boredom or withdrawls ans desperation may just send me out to a pond to try it again. Caught this little dandy LMB on a can cooler closed cell foam brown hackled popper at sunset a couple weeks back then was stumped the next time and have taken the gear out of the truck. Self built H&H 4 wt, vintage '73 Medalist, local pond found via satellite imagery.

Whatwuz the name o’ that fly agin???:-))

Nice going, at the end of the season!
(penultimate…I’m gonna have to git the “diksionary” for that one.);-))

I just bought myself a couple of those older Pfluegers on Ebay. Awaiting del’y. After having a number of high end reels, there’s “something” about simplicity, isn’t there. Seems they’re bulletproof

If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there’d be a shortage of fishing poles." - Doug Larson

24 chilly degrees every night this week…BRRrrrr! Hard frost onthe truck in the AM.

The fly-Jeremy- just a foam popper will do.

Penultimate is about the next to the last big word I know. I prefer…“Fish ON! and Net!” But here’s the P-word Crappie…you know… the one right before the LAST one! LOL! 66" Harris, huh? Our biggee is on 29" 6 color Heidy with aqueous coater inline, plus a 4/c Miller and 5/c Solna and a wee Ryobi. I do the plate work for all of them on a DTP system.

'Chucker,
You take good pics. Funny how these digitals can bring out the beauty of a fish isn’t it! That crappie looks really nice. Good, crisp, colorful shots.

Expect nothing less from a platemaker…bg

Nice posts.

Jeremy.
