My father is a shut-in, confined to a wheel chair.
While we don’t actully fish, one one of his favorite things to do is get some sandwiches and head to a local trout stream and watch others fish.
It’s a lot easier to make a perfect peresentation or cover a rise if you’re just sitting on the bank and fishing in your mind.
The next person to post has had a run-in with a wild beasty while fishing
Happened two years ago in the BWCA. Me and some other guys were eating some lunch sitting around camp and a bear, some 30 feet away, decides to join us. I think he was just following his nose because when he saw us, he ran.
TNPTP … has been so cold while fishing that they’ve buried a hook in their finger and didn’t even know it.
gqualls … Been there, … donit. We used to get to fish right up until the 31st of october. Not the arctic here … but snow squalls and severe icing in the rod guides were normal for the periode.
A nice 12 inch brookie, … slide my hand down the leader to let it go, … false move with the rod hand and the barbless hook zipped into my index finger.
I saw it, … knew I was lightly hooked and had a detached feeling from the scene as I couldn’t feel it.
TNPTP has already been fishing in the 2007 calender year (you lucky Dawgs)
My first fish was a 3 inch Kokanee , man what an epic struggle. I was forced to let him go as they are closed In Okanagan lake. Tears in my eyes I said goodbye to probably my biggest fish of the upcoming season .
TNPTP has had a perfect day without a single wind knot or snag in the bushes.
I was flyfishing with my Brother inlaw, first time flyfisher, I was catching fish, but Ken wasn’t hooking any! I couldn’t take it anymore, I looked at his fly and the hook was broken in half, probably a rock.
TNPTP had a BIG fish ALMOST to the net.
Doug
Was fishing a Trophy Trout stream and had about a 24" rainbow to the net when I stepped into some really cold water that poured into my hip boot. Got too excited when I saw the size of the fish forgot I didn’t have my chest waders on. Jumped back and immediately broke off the fish.
I had been flyfishing saltwater my whole life and I was bored with bonefish and tarpon.
I was a THRILL seeker and I needed something to really kick my butt.
I paid the Guide double his rate to find me a Great White shark.
Everything came together that day except the GW followed my fly all the way to the bow and bit it off, (THE BOW!)
I’ll be in Judge Judy’s court monday if your interested in watching!
TNPTP Your in line for a big promotion, fishing with your boss and YOUR the only one who is catching fish, what do you do?
My go to spey rod is a Sage 8126 with a Bougle’ MK IV given to me by my spey mentor and casting instructor. He was also one of the pioneers for what is now known as the Skagit style of casting with a 2 handed rod.
I was fishing my 2 handed rod for steelhead in BC, which is where GBF said previously there were NO fish, when I hooked a big one!
It took 30 minutes to get it to shore and it turned out to be a tree branch!
So I guess GBF is going to say; “I Told You SOOO!!!”
TNPTP,
Has just hooked a nice fish, when a Bull Moose comes out of the woods toward YOU!
Hey Doug,
Now THAT one will slow up the pace of this game game a bit fer sure. Kinda like TNPTP will have been in a stream when it suddenly turned to wine
Mark,
I guess that was a little harsh on my end. Naturally being terrible at games, I stumble and fall. I will persevere to improve.
Don’t give up hope Chris!
Doug
2nd OPTION—TNPTP just heard their wife say that if they go fishing one more time…
I havent just heard it, I ALWAYS hear it! And with Spring HERE, I will HEAR it every week.
TNPTP has caught more than 5 (6 or more) different species in one body of water on one outing…(mine was Chub, White Perch, Bluegill, Smallmouth, striper, and Shad on the mighty James)
