The "Little Crappie Fly" on the water

First time on the water in 2017, first time on the water for the Cane-and-Silk glass, and the Little Crappie Fly makes the day.

So The Little Crappie Fly also takes trout, go figure. I’ll have to tie a few for my wet fly box.

The LCF has done well on pretty much everything I’ve thrown it at. I fished it this past weekend under an indicator.

I had good luck with the LCF back in Oklahoma. I’ve fished it once or twice up here in Michigan, but haven’t caught anything with it. I guess I need to start swinging more streamers…

Allen, I fish it under an indicator more often than not.

That’s a nice pattern, would be good for bluegills also. Is the recipe on your website?
Thanks,

Tim

It was original tied for panfish. That’s how the name came about. But has since decided to catch pretty much everything. Yes sir, it is on my website.

I can confirm the LCF’s ability to catch Bluegills. I would tear them up back in OK.

Allen, On gills I have found them to take it on the decent. How about you?

Very nice, thank you.

I never really noticed if the fly was descending or if I was stripping it. I usually just watched for the line to twitch. Most likely the fish were hitting on the fall.
