The Kindness of Strangers

Once a few years ago I wanted to find a place where I could kayak in the salt with my wife. She would bird and I of course would fish.

We needed a place where reasonably close to home, easy access, interesting for both of us and not overcrowded with people or motorboats.

Someone who I had met only once offered us a place to go. While he could not join us he gave us the location of a place to launch from, parking in front of his house (only 100 yds from the launch), the places to fish and a wish of good luck. We took him up on his offer and had a wonderful day.

That person was Dave Micus. Thank you Dave. It goes to show what goes around come around.

Truth be known I could have written similar stories about Josko or Chris Chin. Flyfishing at its best is this type of generosity and fraternity.

Bnejamin Franklin was a pretty shrewd ole boy (actually he was a certified genius , back before anyone knew what a genius was ) and he came up with a bunch of sayings  , one of them has always held true for me " You will catch more flies with a spoonfull of honey than with a gallon of vinegar".
