The FAOL Game

I got this idea from another forum I frequent.

This should be fun. It’s The Next Person To Post Game (TNPTP) for short.

You post something like:

“The next person to post owns a rod shorter than 7 ft.”

The only rules are:
You really do have to own such a rod to answer. You can answer with something like, “I’ve got this sweet little 6ft banty that I love to use on the Willow.” And then you make another statement starting with, “The next person to post…” that has something to do with fly fishing or fly tying.

The time rule: If, after 12 hours, the last statement still remains unanswered, anyone may jump in and pose a new statement to get the ball rolling again. (THIS IS A RULE CHANGE FROM AN EARLIER TIME RULE. )

OK, I’ll go first:

The next person to post fly fishes and is bored out of their mind, staring at their computer screen.

Yep, I am! 15 minutes left of work and each item would take WAY longer. I fired up this and a flash game!

Sounds like a fun posting to try.

The next person to post can go FLY fishing tomorrow within 20 minutes of home.

Don

PS. I specified fly fishing cause I know some of you people are turning into Ice-Hole fishers for the winter, and that doesn’t count.

I can fish the Musgegon River 6 miles away

What’s your favorite fly to tie?

ok, Jack… this is your fiendly (i mean friendly) thread-starter with a friendly request.

You don’t get to ask a question. You have to say something like…

The next person to post loves wooly buggers best. or something specific.

edit?

I started tying some hoppers for Dianes
color swap. I need to tie some green ones.
Then I got to thinking, frogs are green too,
and noted for their hopping ability. I do
like to tie my little hula poppers. Not
like it’d be a lie or anything.G

“Whats the coldest day of Warmwater fishing
you’ve done?” Warm regards, Jim

I swear to a higher power that I’m not a control freak. I’m not, I tell you!
I fixed the instructions. So let’s review… You don’t get to ask a question. You end your post with a statement that must begin with:

The next person to post…

I’ll fix Jim’s: The next person to post has fished warm water when there was snow on the ground.

(this game is on a paddling board and is doing great. please don’t let the world think that kayakers are smarter than fly anglers, i beg you!)

Okay, let’s see if this works:

The next person to post must be within 30 minutes of starting to tie some flies for their own use next spring.

PS - Diane, have I got a 5 page psych test for you! If you’ve seen it, you probably know the one I mean. The ability to follow instructions is the key.

Allan

By jove I think we’ve got it. I’m about to sit down an tie some winter steelhead flies.

The next person to post has a Sage SLT in their rod quiver.

Not fair, Allan didn’t say he met the conditions in the previous post…nor do I

Diane;
Old timers!! Now I think I got it (?). This should be fun!

yea i have a 5 wt slt … and the next person to post will have had to tied ice flies this year…

The more time I spend around people the more I like my dog.

I’ve tied ice flys this year. I tie them all year long since they’re wonderful for crappie when they get deep and picky.

But the next person in this thread has never bitten a rubber worm off to make it small enough to fit on a #8 hook to coax a fish out from under a log.

Clint

I feel closer to HIM when I’m fishing.

Yes, I tied a number of medium ICE chenille crystal schminnows for beach fishing & they should work on just about any ice fishing stream or lake in the smaller sizes. The next person has to go wade fishing with a hand tied fly smaller than a size # 12!

“RUBBER WORM?” (actually “#8 HOOK?”)

that would be me but:

the next person to post has stuck a fly in their lip.

I’ll defer to salty. he types faster.

I have! This summer attempting a roll cast. hmmm…good memories!

The next person to post has been flyfishing for less than two years…

  • David

Game fish are too valuable to only be caught once.
-Lee Wulff

Less than two?, That’s me!
The next person must have tied a Black Ghost any size(10 or smaller would be really cool)!

Land Em’,
Carp

I tied a Black Ghost, along with some other streamers to donate for door prizes at a club dinner last week.

The next person to post has recently tied on hooks size 20 or smaller.

Okay, I may as well play too. I just finished some size 20 and 22 BWO’s.

The next person to post is a winter steelheader.

I am a winter steelheader on the Salmon river.

The next person who responds must love to float tube on stillwater.

Jon from Idaho

This sounds like fun, good idea Diane

Ya sure, fishing from a dounut is just about the most fun you can have on a hot summer day.

The next person to post must make their own rod tubes.
