Mike

This site’s about sharing!

Thanks Mike…and thanks go out to Dee and Jim! Honestly, that was the first thing I’ve ever won in my life (major). I’m already looking at a T3 Orvis or a top of the line TFO. You bet I’ll be slinging it at redfish this spring. I’m still in shock!!!
As far as Micus, he’s already offered me 10 bucks for it.
Looks like one hell of a reel!

ok, dude, fifteen…but that’s as high as i go!

Dave

I already offered 30.00

He is such a spoil sport. He got 2 new boats, and a terrific reel. All in less than a month.

And he got professional casting lessions for free at the fish-in. The instructor figured out his problem while driving by and stopped in the middle of the road to give Dude the class.

Man is he lucky.

Harold

Harold, i heard about that casting lesson. what a sport that guy was, stopping in the middle of the road to point out the faults with gary’s cast! i understand the results were amazing, too.

Dave;

Gary was able to hit the backing every time after the lesson. But the Captain from the fly shop was hitting the backing with a plain cast no hauling at all. That was amazing.

Harold

Oh yes before I forget. Here is the Dude casting before the old gentleman gave him his lesson. [url=http://www.sunshine-computer.com/faol/gary1.jpg:e382c]http://www.sunshine-computer.com/faol/gary1.jpg[/url:e382c]

Y’all just ain’t right! That photo was taken just after the drunk stopped in the road and I was still contemplating his words of wisdom. And, I found it strange he looked just like Micus…(and we thought Dave was still in Mass> )
Harold, Kevin is for sure an excellent caster.

Under the circumstances, waking up at 3:30am Friday morning because the clocks hadn’t been set to DST, and then doing the same on Saturday morning, after a long morning of fishing in the sea fog & getting lost in Englewood going for lunch; the casts were getting better, but Gary was probably realizing the newly won reel wouldn’t be a good match for the rod he was test casting! Then again, when the casting lesson from the passerby was delivered, Flats Dude was probably in awe that Ed had a twin brother that was just there to stop by & shadow him that afternoon.

Dude

Another nice recovery;

And Dave I am not sure that Dude and Ed were
lost. I remember using that same excuse when I wanted to have a few hours to do things not on the agenda…

Dude;

Kevin told me they were going to expand and go into a bigger building. I think it will be worth the ride just to visit him once or twice a month. He told me if he did not have it in stock he would get it, cannot beat that. Now I have to quit complaining because I do not have a fly shop close to home. 45 minutes in this traffic is nothing.

Harold

At least, the Dude remembered not to accept rides from strangers. Who knows where that wonderful reel might have wound up.

That photo deserves a caption contest.

When the dawn came up like thunder

Was the passerby able to stand up when he gave his lesson? If so, it was not Dave.

jed

Jed;

This was left out, the gent in question did stumble a time or two, he also had to use the car as a out-rigger.

I am so sorry I did not take a pic of that gent. I might have been able to clear poor D. Micus.

Harold

Ah, but Harold, y’all forgot about me trying to set the hook on that group of hippies! Dang near got the biggest one when he tried to snatch the flyline!

Flats is that what they were. I would have sworn they were from another planet. But since I was in school when the hippies were around I had to think back. Sure enough hippies might explain it. But I remember the hippie girls were cute. There was a girl with them right?

I did think you showed a lot of restraint if that had been “your girls” they would not have eaten at the table. I hope Linda does not see this. She will kick me in the shins.

Tell her we missed her again and if she does not show up to one of these secret meeting or a fish-in then we will just have to have a fish-in at the lake behind the house. <small evil grin>

Harold

Jist no p’in’ in the pool!

Just plain forgot about the pool…

How goes the boats?

Harold

Harold, I’m in the process of scheduling the “will-be” flats boat in for a poling tower, tune up and some more removal of unwanted stuff that has been installed on the boat. I’m trying to get it as flat as I can. Then it goes in for a tune up, just for my sake…water pump, etc.
The little lake boat, the 1968 Smoker Craft, is about to get a new transom board, then take the 1962 Evinrude apart to do basically the same to it. I bought a new gas tank and fuel line for it this week.
I hope to have both boats ready to fish by the middle of next month.
When I bought the future flats boat, it came with two, almost new, trolling motors. I plan on putting one of those on the lake boat, not sure about the other boat, I probably won’t use it on that one since trolling motors don’t work too well in 18" or less water, tends to spook the fish.
The Smoker Craft sure has a lot of character, and reminds me a lot of my dad…something he would have thought was way cool. When I get them both finished, I’ll take some pics of 'em.
