The Colorful Swap

The Colorful Swap

THIS SWAP IS FULL.

I?ve got this wacky swap idea. Let?s take all the colors of the rainbow plus black and white. Each person will pick ONE of the colors listed and tie a pattern that uses that color for any material (fur, feather, floss, etc.) in a major way. Any style of fly goes from teeny indigo nymphs (??) to glorious Blue salmon flies. The color doesn?t have to be in the name of the fly, just in the materials. Tie 9 of the same fly and send them in with toe tags, crush-proof container, self-addressed envelope with return postage. YOU MUST BE ON TIME with your flies. If you send them in after the deadline, they?ll be returned to you unopened and the rest of us will be bummed.

To sign up, it?s first come, first served. You name the color AND name the fly. You?re not considered signed up until you choose a fly. I?ll start it off with a Violet Partridge.

ill play, can i have black, ill tie something in a spey ??

RW here,

Not wacky at all Diane. I’ll tie a rainbow variant…a four hackle dry fly. This is a fly I created about three years ago that I often tie at shows to give away to kids as a show souvenir. At the Sowbug one year I gave away almost 50 of them. It has a red tail and red is one of the hackle feathers. It is a good warm/cold water dry fly and great for bluegill or brookies. I’ll tie it in a size #10.

Later, RW

Mike and RW… welcome! Thanks for joining.

Colors still available: Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and White

I will replicate a yellow wet with which I caught a lovely feisty rainbow in September. It does not have a name but it catches fish. IT is mostly feather with a bit of floss for the tag.

If’n you’ll have me, I’d like to tie a partridge and orange!

Trouts don’t live in ugly places

I would like to participate. I will tie a blue damselfly. Thanks
Chuck

OK, Gardenfish, Betty, and Sirrom… thanks for joining!

So green, white, and indigo are left, folks. I don’t know about you but I’ve never heard of an indigo fly. Think bright bluish purple, I guess. Who’s next?

Hey Dianne,

Im in. May I have green please. Some
sort of a hopper pattern. Warm
regards, Jim

Welcome, Jim.

White and Indigo left, folks.

indigo is that like purple?? if so im in and i already have em done…

Indigo/purple… close enough. You’re in if you name the fly first!

Diane

ill do a purple bugger(best cutty streamer color ever!!!). if thats to simple let me know i can dream up sumn…

We do a little surf-candie type bug that gets tossed to a lot of “minnow-eating” piscatorial targets around here, including “full moon” troutoids at the Sugar Creek Ranch. Those fish (generally 3#-13#) will wear out your arms in a night on’em. Or if’n ya would like some of these, they’re white…sorta. [url=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v315/leesoares/CIMG0260.jpg:faf43]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v315/leesoares/CIMG0260.jpg[/url:faf43]
I’ll play if’n you’re interested.
…lee s.

OK, this swap is full up!

sunskyhooksnwater… sounds great but I’m hereby officially dubbing (no pun intended) your fly to an Indigo Bugger… we’ll just pretend we know what that color is like.

lee s. great! Surf Candy it is. Looks like a fantastic minnow.

Welcome aboard everyone.

If you would all send me your email addresses, I’d appreciate it. Put the words Colorful Swap in the Subject line to keep it out of my Junk folder. Thanks.

Diane
