Not the third leg of the Triple Crown; a lake pattern from Shetland. Wouldn’t have bothered with a SBS since most of it is pretty basic, but I was watching a Davie McPhail video and saw a cool way to tie in peacock sword, keeping the curvature of the fibers intact, so I thought I’d throw it in.
hook - Mustad 3399A #12
thread - Danville 6/0 black
rib - tinsel gold
abdomen - peacock herl
hackle - hen brown
underwing - Krystal Flash red
wing - peacock sword
Part 1
mash barb, start thread, tie in tinsel and wrap to bend
tie in some peacock; twist around thread and wrap forward, one eye width back from the eye
counterwrap rib; tie off/trim
strip fibers off one side of hackle, tie in by tip; wrap, tie off/trim
