Just a note to say thank you to all who attended the CWFI. While the turn out was intimate, I trust a good time was had by all. Speaking for myself, it was a pleasure to fish with old friends and to meet some new ones. I only wish the weather had been a little more cooperative saturday night. As per usual the facilities at Oasis Park were stellar, and all the hot shower I wanted for only a quarter. The fish were not as cooperative as I would have liked for my friends at the creek, however the gents who accompanied me to Stan Coffin Lake on Saturday had all the bluegills they could handle. We had a real gigglefest. Thanks again to Ron & Vicki, Ladyfisher & Castwell, Mac & Annie, Kerry Stratton and family, Robert & Sons (I hope your boy is feeling better), JeffW, Z, Mark Killiam, Angus, Richard, and to Darc at the Desert Fly Angler, for insuring he had some of those fine little extended body BWO’s on saturday.
I look forward to next year. Remember, you can always email me if you’re going to be in the vicinity for what little I know or for a tour of my very unproductive secret fishing spots. Oh yeah, and JeffW needs a tent stake mallet for Christmas so he quits making fun of my 3/4" wrench.
Cary, I for one will say a big thank you to to you. It was well worth the longtrip over from MT. I did finally get a couple of fish at Rocky Ford later Sunday afternoon and caught a couple more Monday as well. I broke off a big boy when he took me into some rocks, I am guessing he was well into the upper 20 inch range. And the wind was even worse Monday which made for some good entertainment.
Thanks to Z also for our float trip Saturday. Too bad it didnt go the way we all hoped, but I still had fun except for one little adventure that no one wants to repeat.
I learned a few things on this trip (as I always do when attending a Fish-In). Anyways I had a blast and will defenitely be heading over there again.
VEE and I want to add our thanks for another great CWFI. The fishing was a might tough this year, but enjoyable just the same. The evenings around camp casting all the different rods, telling fish stories, getting some casting lessons and just getting to know everyone a little better was icing on the cake.
Thanks again, Buddy. We’re looking forward to next year already.
Thanks from JC and me too! It was just what we needed, evenings could have been a little warmer - but the friendship was enough to warm anyone’s heart. Those who didn’t make it missed out!
Next year I will show up a day earlier. Arriving Saturday afternoon did not leave enough time for fishing and visiting. Heck, I spent most of Saturday finding everything.
Good to meet some of the FAOL crowd and finally to meet Ladyfisher and Castwell.
Also, now I sort of know what to expect from those lock jawed trout at Rocky Ford.
Thanks you guys for a nice couple of days away from the rush of work and the west side.
Kerry
P.S.
REE & VEE, I always have a couple of open seats for sea runs in the fall and the same in the spring for steel. REE, hope you are feeling better.
Cary and all the good folks that attended: Thanks for making the 4th CWFI a great gathering. It was wonderfull to see old friends and to make a few new ones. We all prevailed thru a very windy time… and from what I heard everyone caught fish! I look forward to seeinjg you all next year or sooner!
I had a great time, as expected. Had a most delightful day on Stan Coffin Lake with Linemender and Harlan. Unfortunately, I had to be home by Saturday evening and missed the BBQ. Look forward to fishing with all again next year!
Lost by someone at Rocky Ford, I found this at the C&R section of the ‘Flies Only’ section of the first pool. Send postage and I will send it back to you. There was a bait hook with a short section of spinning line by it, but I tossed that into the trash, sorry. It was a cheap hook anyhow.

No one knows.”
