This is the first I have been able to return to my computer. I am at a loss for words. How can I ever thank you folks enough for you emails and posts? Your prayers and well wishes worked. That was the longest time since I was in the army that I have gone without sleep and it really took a toll on me. I was to the point where I just wanted the pain to end not matter what. Still in pain but at least now it’s bearable.
I went to the doctor and we set a plan into action. Strict ibuprofen regimen, knee brace, MRI and go to the orthopedic surgeon. Doc felt a lot of grinding and popping in the knee with a reduced stability. She told me that the X-ray was normal but that X-ray doesn’t show what is really happening there and something is wrong. She said the surgeon will determine if the left knee can be reconstructed or needs replaced. I also have to use arch supports as I have falling arches and there is a cyst in the arch of my left foot. Boy, that surgeon is going to earn his money with me!
'Tuber called me during his lunch break and beat me up over the phone tonight, lol . He told me to suck it up and he’s right. To my joy he didn’t fall asleep in mid conversation this time. It may take me some time but I will respond to all of your emails. I may not be able to post as often as I like to but I will continue to post.
The All Mighty guided me to this place because He knew I was going to need you folks. I now know that when He created all of you He was creating Angels for paradise. I can never thank all of you enough for what you have done for me. Bless all of you.
There were days when the end of the hall looked a hundred miles away. I have a new knee now, and although it took a bit of time and pain to get through, it’s much better than before. Not like when I was a teenager, but then neither is the rest of me. I know the panic that you feel at 5 A.M. and you haven’t slept, and you’re wondering if it will ever be good again. It will. You’re a tough guy, but you should let the doc and especially the re-hab doc have their way. Then get your bu** out here and pontoon the Henry’s Fork with me.
Welcome back buddy. Many of us can
relate to what you’ve been going through.
Sometimes you wonder if it’s worth the
effort. Take my word for it. It always
is. Just keep on keeping on and remember,
you’ve got friends here that care and
sometimes, that’s the most valuable
commidity there is.G Warm regards, Jim
My wife had reconstructive surgery last year on her right knee, the doctor had remove part of her patilla (spelling?)tendon to create a new ACL for her.
Her ACL was completely gone and it was bone on bone. Her right leg bent at the knee in ways that would almost make you sick to your stomach watching the doctor manipulate it.
She had the surgery and although it was painful for her, she is better than brand new. She can now go skiing, which she couldn’t do before and she can wade so we can flyfish together when my back allows me to get on the water.
Eric, take only one day at a time and keep your spirits up, everything will turn out Ok in the near future.
Thanks for coming back and letting us know how things are going.
You have served this great Country during some very bad times and I’m greatful you shared with us your challenges. We are a great big family here and that’s what families are for, and I’m glad your part of it.
Eric,
Good talkin’ to you tonight. We’ve gotta get you “up & running” in time for the Michigan Fish-In!
Always remember my Irish approach to Doctors…“Listen to ‘em, but if they tell ya somethin’ you don’t wanna hear, tell 'em where to go & get a different one!” When I had my physical, I told my Doc that if he was gonna make me give up fried foods & BBQ, I was gonna dump him. He laughed & said that due to my good health, I could keep my bad habits “in moderation”, so I still see him.
Good to read a post from you again!
GOD Bless & give Amy a hug!
Mike
Thanks folks. Mike, sorry I was not able to call you last night but the Z monster got me. I’ll try again tonight.
Gringo, Paradise is in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. It’s right next door to the towns of Intercourse, Blue Ball and Bird-in-Hand. All Amish Dutch towns. Kind of makes me wonder about the Amish at times.
Lew, I would love to fish the Henry’s Fork. I envy you. If I ever get the chance to come out there I would like to bring Ohiotuber and Jack Hise along but we would probabaly be banned for life.
I read my original post again. Yuck, I’m so up and down emotionaly right now that I know what a YoYo would feel if it had feelings. Well, for better or worst, at least my sense of humor is returning. Poor Amy has to put up with a bear with a sore a$$, oops I mean knee. I think I saw her geting that old frying pan out. You know, the dented one that our wives keep handy for those “special” times in a man’s life. Funny how the dents seem to match the top of my head.
The following statement cracked me up, you know your talking about my ancestors, and I take NO offense!!! Hehehehe!
“Gringo, Paradise is in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. It’s right next door to the towns of Intercourse, Blue Ball and Bird-in-Hand. All Amish Dutch towns. Kind of makes me wonder about the Amish at times.”
My last name is Lancaster, I’m Dutch, the City and County of Lancaster, Pennsylvania are where my Ancestors settled and call home.
We Amish love the first one, work really hard to avoid the second one by doing the first one all the time, and the third one is a national past time we really enjoy, especially when I fill up my bird vest using my sweet little 16 ga. Belgium SXS shotgun.
Welcome to my “Para-dise”, although I have to tell you we’ve kinda grown board with “Craps” and are taking to “Texas Holdem” in the true Texas Spirit!
I am with the masses, ie Ducksterman for example, even if we all dont bombard your email…Your definitely in MrKnepp and I 's prayers on a daily basis.
Hope your feeling well for Michigan, maybe just a simple afternoon of visiting.
