this is a bit late in the game but I wanted to let anyone who is interested know that, on Saturday 2 Feb 2008 at 9:00 AM we will be doing a trash pickup below the dam on the Texas side of Denison Dam.
The Corp of Engineers, who administer the property, will provide trash bags and a dumpster. Please bring work gloves and any kind of grabby pickup tools you may have.

Bumping it up. This Saturday AM at 9:00 on the Texas side in the parking lot. We’ll meet and get started.
Well, we got out there early, got started picking up trash. The powerhouse was turned on and churning the Red into a froth. There were so many shad getting dumped into the river that the water was silver-flecked. There was about one acre of river surface alive and boiling with stripers in a feeding frenzy. I tell you this, my dear readers, to let you know that your intrepid trash picker-uppers kept on task and finally gathered over forty huge contractor bags of garbage before stopping for the day.
