John,
My flies are going in the mail today. I changed my pattern from a foam parachute hopper to a foam baby hopper, no parachute. I have had very good results with baby hoppers, so I think everyone is going to like these.
Foam Baby Hopper
Hook: Dry size 12
Body: Tan dubbing, with yellow foam on top.
Legs: Small yellow rubber legs.
Dub body with tan dubbing. Cut foam in a rectangular strip around 1/4 inch wide or so. Tie in foam at 1/3 the distance back from the hook eye. The body should extend to the end of the hook. Advance the thread towards the eye of the hook, compressing the foam as you go. Dub the compressed foam area, fold the foam back, forming the head. Clip the foam behind the body. Knot the rubber leg material, tie in and finish off the fly.
This fly is an excellent terrestrial searching pattern, it is also boyant enough to fish with a dropper. I hope this one can bring everyone a tight line or two.

The flies are in the mail from Matthew and me.
Don’t panic when you see the metered mail on the envelop I sent you. My return envelope has regular stamps on it. ![]()
Also, I held out the 2 flies for Matthew and myself so you wouldn’t have to worry about sorting them out for us just to turn around and mail them back to me.
Thanks for meistering the swap for us!
