The Ted being Ted Earl, another from the Michigan school of flytying. The fly can be tied in different color combos for different looks - drakes of all colors, white fly, etc.

hook - Dai Riki 320 #12
thread - Danville 6/0 black
tail - fox squirrel tail
abdomen - muskrat dubbing
back - deer hair
rib - tying thread
wing - grizzly hen hackle tips
hackle - brown/grizzly

Part 1

mash barb, start thread at 70% mark (reference point for wing); wrap back to point above barb

clean, stack, measure (shank) some squirrel tail fibers; tie in, smooth butts with thread

dub thread, dub abdomen

clean, stack, measure (gap width past bend) some deer hair

tie in, keeping hair on top of abdomen

spiral rib to the bend, then a couple tight wraps to flare the tips; return crossing wraps to 70% mark, tie off, trim, smooth with thread

Part 2

take a pair of hen hackle tips (= to gap width), put them together with the tips curving away from each other, measure for length (entire hook); tie in at 70% mark

trim butts, smooth with thread; pull wings up/back and wrap in front to set the proper angle

tie in hackles in front of wing

wind brown

wind grizzly, tie off, trim, half hitch x 2, SHHAN and you’re done
