My rod is finished, but I am just fine waiting til April 15. It’ll be better if everyone involved has time to get done. Besides…April 15 ain’t that far off…ModocDan
Kaboom,
I’m open to what ever the general consensus is. Mines ready to go.
Betty
Yep, I got ahead of myself. Not a few days…a month and a few days! Ugh! Sorry I gave you a panic!
The suspense is horrible…in a good way.
The date was set at April 15. I WILL hold EVERYONE to this date. For all of us that are done…we have to wait. For all of you that are not…TIC TOC!
Brad
Oh yeah… well what happens if I am not done in time? Is a doll of me burned in effigy at the Fish-In?
Or better yet… what if I my rod turns out so nice that I don’t want to give it up? I hope who ever gets my rod likes his rods old school (I know I do), cause that’s what their gettin. Think Wanigas… 8)
Hmmm—Id better get cookin on this thing—got 3 more guides to wrap and the tippings—i have 2 or 3 evenings to finish—ill make the 15th without a problem.
I’m just about ready to start wrapping the guides…and I’ve got the whole week off before the 15th :)…I’ll make it…my goal is by the end of the month…
I’ll have mine done by the 15th. I’ve got the next 2 weeks off of work, so I plan on finishing it up over that time period. I just gotta wrap and finish.
Hey I got the spigot fitted and Glued. This weekend I’ll get the reel seat and the cork on and figure out the “Flavor” of the wrap’s I’m gonna do.
Now if Jim Flanning, bdesavage and myself were to get chosen to swap with each other we could all just meet somewhere in the middle. Take the rods for a “field test” and then swap.
I about ready to start wrapping…what spacing did you use for the guides?
Cholcomb and I… brothers in procrastination! I will start wrapping this weekend as well.
Make it Three of Us:p
Here are some pics of the rod I’m building…I ended up using a spigot ferrule…I using a old style fenwick cork grip, down locking reel seat…and I’ve got the bu++ section wrapped.
It actually looks like the tubes got run over by a car since it looks like the pressure was exerted perpendicularly (it was laying flat on the ground and the car or truck went over it, shattering that end and leaving the long jagged tips).
Question all of the guide spacing charts gives our rods more guides (7-8 + stripper) than we rec’d (6 + stripper)…what did everyone do?
I laid out the guides I had using a spacing guide from the St. Croix blank catalog, which had 1 more guide than what we received. I placed a guide at each location but the one closest to to the tip-top, and then just adjusted the position of the guides I had to fill in with a spacing that just sort of looked right and made sense, with each successive guide further back towards the butt by a larger increment. Should work I think.
Ok Last weekend in spite of attending another one of Jean’s family’s Idea of a Re-union(Funeral) 3rd one since Thanksgiving and then spending Sunday and Monday at the E.R. Due to Jean’s M.S. sending conflicting signal’s to her Heart and Lung’s, (She’s doing OK we think) I did get the Hook Keeper and Stripper Wrapped and The tiptop installed and the rest of the guide’s positioned, will wrap and Color Protect and Sealed or Epoxied if You prefer over the next 3 day’s.
Yep another Three day Weekend! Last week I got my 4th 40 hour week in since Thanksgiving this week was a “Whooping” 24 Hour’s.
Thanks for letting me Vent!
I hate these rods already. Son’s dogs decided Mine would be a good one to munch on. Back to the wrapping table before the 15th. I think these rods are jinxed LOL. got to laugh or I will b e having dog taco’s for supper.
When it rains, it pours!
Perhaps some hot sauce guide wraps might help as a training tool! If that doesn’t work, you can think of it as an internal marinade for the dog tacos.
