Nighthawk recently mentioned that summer must be here because of the fire flies and the T-Storms. Well, these certainly attest to the latter. I took these sitting just inside my front and back doorways to stay out of the rain. It really limited my view of the sky, but I still managed to get a few shots. The news last night said that within a 60 minute timeframe there were about 10,000 (yes, 10 thousand) lightening strikes in Central Ohio. Out of 142 shots these are the only ones that turned out.
We’re supposed to get another this afternoon/tonight so maybe I’ll be able to get some more!
Fantastic photographs. Thanks for posting them. I went to dental school in Cleveland and I remember sitting on the front porch in the summer and watching electrical storms. We didn’t have anything like that in No. Cal.
Yeah!..LOVE the horizontal stuff!
I haven’t seen a Patagonia catalogue in a number of years, but a store I used to frequent had them. Every year they had some unbelievably beautiful lightening pics.
I love to watch 'em…saw some on the way home from work today, but too many trees/buildings to get a really nice view. Maybe later.

I worked in the tower at Penticton airport, it can be a scary place during a storm. No one that I know of ever walked the parapet during a storm. The tower has been struck several times but it has a huge metal frame right to ground.
I use to love working during the severe lightning storms.
Once the gas guy was out on the ramp area fueling up a C172 When lightning struck the tarmac 30 feet away. It knocked him on his butt. He never again broke the no fueling rule during a thunderstorm.
Thanks for the kind words guys.
Was out fishing with a buddy in his yaks yesterday when a little system moved through. We got the yaks in the truck just as the rain started coming down. No lightening though, so no pics.
Oh, and the fishing stunk! oh well.
