Synthetic Wing Materials for Cutters

This is directed towards Betty, but everybody else free to join in.

Betty,

What synthetic winging do you like to use?

Thanks,

Steven

I use ethafoam for stonefly wings with my cutters.

Steven,
I’ll use MFC etha-wing material, another is called MFC Wing Material (it’s sort of translucent!). Sometimes I’ll use really thin foam from computer packaging (and color it in with prismamarkers), or I’ll even use swiss straw. You’re only limited by your imagination!
I almost forgot … you’d asked about hackle on the wings (fore and aft), and I forgot to tell you that you can make great looking parachute wraps around the wings. They float really high and well.

Trouts don’t live in ugly places
