Swittersb Travelling Sedge SBS

A real simple pattern but the fused wing was something I hadn’t seen on a caddis before…

hook - Dai Riki 280 #10
thread - Danville 6/0 brown
shuck/wing - Congo Hair beige
body - tying thread
hackle - pale ginger

Part 1

mash barb, start thread; tie in CH, fold, wrap to bend (if you hold the CH up off the shank while tying, thread wraps will jam against themselves creating tighter, even body

trim shuck, return thread to 2//3 mark, brush with Sally

grab a (combed) clump of CH in pliers, trim, fuse ends with a lighter

measure wing (gap width past bend), tie in, wrap to eye

Part 2

tie in hackle, wrap to eye, tie off/trim

pull butt ends of wing back, set angle with thread wraps

half hitch x 2, SHHAN, trim butts, trim hackle underneath

Regards,
Scott

Carnage variation

The body’s a bit longer than the natural but improves floatation.
