I gotta quit running back and forth to the hospital and other errands for Dad and get with this program! Dad got moved out of CCU to the “Transition Care” unit. He’ll be there another 7 - 14 days and then home. So that front is getting better!
Onto the fly swap: Over the last several days flies have arrived from RickZ, and txfly. Thanks guys!!

So, who’s still out, and who have we received flies from? I hope you received mine. I mailed them quite a while ago.

Thanks

Mine were mailed over 2 weeks ago.
I don’t know what’s up with the mail around here, but that makes 5 sets of flies within the last year that either were opened and returned to me, or just disappeared. I have taken this all the way to the regional Postmaster, with unsatisfactory results, so I guess I will have to go to my elected officials to get anything done. This is extremely aggravating.
I even drove to Chatsworth, Ga. and mailed them there, because I didn’t trust the Cleveland Post Office. So this indicates that the problem is in Chattanooga (the regional office).
John, please PM me, and I’ll figure out a way to re-tie these and get them to you ASAP, even if I have to hand-deliver them myself (probably what I’ll have to do).
I am very sorry for the delay this is causing.
Hey Gig, we may just have to go fishing once a month.
We’ll get it figgered out.
Gigmaster, feel your pain. Only other suggestion i can think of is sending them Priority Mail? At lesat then delivery confirmation is available, and the post office can track down where they went awol. For me, it costs $10.30 per month for shipping. ($5.15 each way). I use a soft padded envelope in 11"x13" size.
Paul
I did send it Priority Mail. They do not confirm delivery on Priority Mail. What you are referring, I think, is Registered, or Certified mail. It costs around $8.00. It’s cheaper, faster, and more reliable to just send them by UPS or Fed-Ex (My wife works for a Fed-Ex shiipping company) than either of these USPS Services. They can take up to 30 days to get where they are going.
The thing that really chaps me is that this is America. We are supposed to be able to depend on our Mail Service. I shouldn’t have to send something by a special service. Whatever happened to "neither rain, nor snow, …yadaah, yadaah, yadaah…They used to be able to get mail through blizzards, bandits, hostile Indians, War Zones…and that was with horses! Now, I can’t even get a small envelope delivered less than 100 miles away with any reliability. The Postal Service around here should be ashamed…
That’d work for me. Sometimes that’s all I get to go anyway…if I am lucky…
Apologies to all, My flies are still sitting on my desk. If I can get a shipping address I will send them out before I go in for my shift tomorrow.
I’d be happy to drive to Townsend (and the Little River) and meet you guys once a month to pick up the flies but, that might make the others envious. Might make my wife a bit perturbed too. I guess Gig is the favorite fly tier of the USPS. They like his flies so much they…
We can all work on our fly fisher patience while you get the USPS sorted out.
I am very sorry for the delays everybody. I only had enough Black CDC to complete the one swap, so for the last two days, I have been looking for a Fly Shop that had some (There are no shops around here at all). I finally found some today at a place in Marrietta, Ga. (about 55 miles away). I will knock these flies out today and send them via Fed-Ex overnight Monday morning. John should have them on Tuesday.
Again, I apologize. I have put my elected officials on notice IN WRITING, to look into this and fix it. This was the last straw.
Thanks for being so patient.
